Hoyo Piramide This is truly an enjoyable stick for those of use who enjoy Medium+ cigars. The Sumatra wrapper offers a nice tip-of-the-tongue red pepper spice that isn't overwhelming at mates very well with the smooth yet bold flavors that many people can associate with Nicaraguan cigars. IF you are a light-med smoker and wanting to venture into med-full I would not recommend these. Check out the JR Ultimate series. Otherwise good luck finding a stick like this with a better price tag. 4 5 1

Hoyo Piramide Unless you don't take them out of the cellophane and let them rest in a Good humidor after receiving your order. These burn like every other beautifully oily Ecuador Sumatra wrapper I've ever smoked even the top brands they smoke slow and you can't let it sit long without relighting. But the flavor is excellent and the same as the Hoyo Camacho RP etc. 4 5 1

Hoyo Piramide based on experience i feel i always gamble on the quality of JR's alternatives. lately the quality has been good. however the previous 5 pack contained 2 cigars i did not finish due to very bad construction. they tunneled canoed and the wrappers unrolled. thus the low marks for construction and consistence. these remarks apply to several of JR's limited edition varieties. never the less i continue to buy especially considering the low prices. 3 5 1

Hoyo Piramide This is a bitterly disappointing cigar. The construction and draw are terrible! I've had to use a draw poker repeatedly on the six I've smoked thus far. I keep thinking the next one I smoke will be better. Alas I am deluding myself. I'm now qualified to suck start a Harley. These are among the top two worst cigars I've ever smoked. Hoyo Piramide This is a very good cigar. Well worth the price. It's a beautiful cigar that smokes great. Draw is good and the flavors are chocolate up front then mellows to a tobacco flavor w/some earthiness. It's a solid medium to full bodied cigar w/medium to full flavor. Hoyo Piramide I have purchased several JR Alternatives and have not been happy with them. My latest was the JR Edicion Limitada Alternative. Each one of them are hard as a rock. Hoyo Piramide These showed up in the mail today. No aging was applied. I will likely try one every couple of months to check the effects of the aging. First off it has a wonderful construction. I got an even burn and good draw the whole cigar. I got a lot of leather and earthiness up front and a decent aroma. It picked up a little pepper towards the end. Not a lot of complexity in the flavors, but still a pleasurable smoke. For the price, this was a pleasant find. 4 5 1

Hoyo Piramide Definitely NOT a maduro wrapper as previously stated. "Ecuador Sumatra" is probably considered to be an EMS wrapper. . Saw six inches off the end of a broomstick and you might get a better draw. These are rolled way too tight ! . Cut the cigar and check the dry draw (draw - without lighting). If your cheeks cave in and your ears pop, you will need create an airway, preferably without cracking the wrapper. . A straight piece of wire coat-hanger, or a Drawpoker, and a large paper-clip with the last bend straightened will be your friends here. Using the wire coat-hanger (or Drawpoker), poke into the foot (the end you light) about 5.5". If you go all the way through, you are likely to crack the wrapper at the head. Now, re-try the dry draw. If the cigar still does not draw, use your paper-clip to poke into where you cut it. . I would like to see Connecticut broadleaf (or some other maduro) as a wrapper option. 3 5 1

Hoyo Piramide The sticks have been in my humidor for about a month and just tried my first with my friend who loves Nicaraguan cigars. He agrees with my review. Good flavor but a bit one dimensional. Rich peppery start, but that mellows a bit as you go. Good construction, draw, and perfect burn. Never had to relight. Not my favorite, but not a bad smoke at all. For under $3, you can't go wrong if you like full-bodied Nicaraguan cigars. Interested to see how they smoke with a little more time to rest in the humidor. I say buy and try! 4 5 1
Hoyo Piramide A flavorful nicaraguan... if you can get it to draw somehow. I'm smoking my third one right now and the flavor is fantastic, but three out of three the draw is so tight I finally took one of my wife's small crochet hooks and jammed it in there. Its drawing to the point where I can somewhat enjoy it at least. At this price point tge favor may be worth the extra work. 3 5 1
Hoyo Piramide I found the JR Limitada Hoyo Pyramid to be an Excellent Medium-to-Full Bodied Cigar Excellent construction, great flavor, even burn, good draw, and consistent. I was delightfully surprised as I went through the first 5 pack, and ordered a second. This cigar will be a staple in my humidors. I highly recommend them. 5 5 1
Hoyo Piramide I just finished one. The construction is perfect. No soft spots the wrapper is great, and perfectly applied. The cold draw gives hints of cedar, leather,, earth, and coffee, maybe a little toast. The first inch is cedar and leather, mild medium. I cut it deep with a guillotine. So there's lots of rich smoke. The first third is the same. The flavors intensify in the second third, but remain smooth and are a solid medium. The final third the flavors intensify of course. But, still remains smooth, with some nuttiness, and dried fruit, apricot/plum. I lay it down when i smell burning moustache. It became so chewy I would have eaten it if I didn't have a sandwich waiting. I have the full line in my humidor, from buying several samplers. These are in my top ten rotation. 5 5 1
Hoyo Piramide These are by far my favorite cigar in the world! The construction, flavor, taste on the pallet, draw, aroma, is just amazing! This cigar costing about $3.40 a stick with tax and shipping costs blows away many of the $20 cigars I have had! I have turned a couple of people on to these bad boys, and everyone says that they can't believe how good they are! Hands down the best cigar in the world as far as I'm concerned. With the economy the way it's been I can't afford expensive smokes anymore. Thank God for these! 5 5 1
Hoyo Piramide I've been smoking JR Alternatives for better than 20 years now, and while I know what I'm getting with my regular smokes, this was a very pleasant surprise. Medium bodied, they ha e a very nice draw, even burn for the most part (I had to touch up 3 of the 5 I purchased just once each during smoking), and the underlying flavors are pretty light including some cocoa and espresso undertones; but hearty tobacco is the dominant flavor with these. A cigar smoker's cigar. I really like the aroma, too. It reminds me of a scent from years ago, but I can't put my finger on it. These sticks are tough to beat, especially for less than $3/per. Kind of amazing, actually. Try one and see for yourself. 4 5 1
Hoyo Piramide I’m an everyday smoker and have never tried a JR Alternative. I didn’t expect much. Wow was I surprised! These are easily right up there in my top 5 cigars. Hoyo Piramide This is my favorite smoke! I have been buying them for years and they never disappoint. Consistent flavor from firing it up the the finish. They are a medium smoke with a nice peppery taste. My only concern is in the last few months the stock of these good cigars has been minimal and I had to choose other JR brand. Hoyo Piramide Could just be me but they got a weird flavor. Strong but bland at the same time. Kind of an ashy charcoal. I like strong heavy hitting flavorful cigars but I didn’t enjoy these. Put it out after about a quarter. Burn was uneven but not terrible. Ok draw just poor smoke production. Gonna age them longer see if they get better. Wouldn’t buy theme again though. 2 5 1
