Hoyo Epicure I was very nervous to purchase the Limitada Series of Cigars for JR. I made the leap and then worked my way to trying different blends. The Hoyo de Monterey is now my favorite! The gauge and lenght is perfect and can be smoked in about 45 mintues to an hour. A wonderful rich Nicaruaguan tobacco with pepper nuts and an earthiness. I love the way it stings the end of my tongue right before I light it. I have now in the last four months purchased three bundles with more to come as this is now my daily smoke. Hoyo Epicure Not a good even draw and goes out quickly. It becomes very harsh near the end of the smoke . I would not buy this again. 2 5 1
Hoyo Epicure I've been smoking these many years now and I love them. I'll put them up against any quality cigar I have in my humidor. They are as good as any premium cigar you'll find. In my opinion they taste a lot like the Romeo & Julieta Reserve Maduro. I think the whole line of Edicion Limitada Alternative's are excellent but these are my favorites. Hoyo Epicure I've tried all the shapes and versions of the Limitada Alts and they are all very good you just can't go wrong with a purchase of any of them. This particular version has very good balance and is strong but smooth. A very good choice if you want an after-dinner cigar that works well with bourbon. I smoke a lot and it's nice to fine a premium cigar like this at a sensible price. 4 5 1

Hoyo Epicure Flavors of leather and cocoa come to mind as I smoke these pleasant cigars. I think for the price the are a good buy despite a tight drawn on each and everyone and some imperfections on a few of the wrappers. 3 5 1

Hoyo Epicure There are two Cigars that I purchase from JR that are consistently superb I have been buying them for years: the Edición Limitada Alternatives to the Cuban Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure (ELHMEP) and the JR Edicion Limitada Alternative Montecristo C (ELMOC) with a slightly slimmer ring size of 46. These two cigars are my favorites same tobacco... flavorful perfect draw never fall apart both are a joy to smoke and never break the bank! 5 5 1
Hoyo Epicure I discovered these a few years ago Since they have become my top go-to smoke. They are rich and earthy full of powerful flavor. I like to age them a few months but they are great out of the box er bundle. Great flavor at a great price. 4 5 1

Hoyo Epicure It's NOT a Cuban. LOL. But it is a very good cigar. It's more flavorful than most of the Cubans I have tried. Check off construction burn draw smooth and flavor ... all good. Nice flavors of tangy espresso with toasty traits. Among the better cigars that sell around $ 2.75 5 5 1
Hoyo Epicure Let these rest for a week or so without the cellophane, my experience on jr Alts. They'll breath better a taste better . No issues but few sticks can kick you in the teeth full of flavor similar to the Boneshaker sticks,smooth creamy at times full of leather and hint of citrus peels. Hoyo Epicure First purchase was 44.16. I was charged 55.00 for second purchase although your website showed 44.16. I called your customer service and they said they could not offer help. Disappointed and I'll stop buying from J&R. 4 5 1
Hoyo Epicure Having tried several JR-Alternatives many years ago and been disappointed every time, I found my cigar purchases were spent on other options. Then a couple of months ago I saw this Hyo alternative on sale and thought it time to give it a try. Am I glad I did. The cigar is made with long leaf filler and wrapped in a nice dark Sumatra wrapper. Having smoked a couple of bundles it was great to find all the cigars were well made and smoked well. All had a nice draw good flavor. The flavor is rich and full and goes well with scotch (optional of course). There isn’t any taste of Cuba but for a Nicaraguan it is very good. I also really like the size 50 X 5.62. Fat enough to enjoy the flavor of the filler but not too long to make smoking one a long-time commitment. When they are on sale it is a bargain that can’t be beat. 4 5 1

Hoyo Epicure I think all of the Edicion Limitada Alternatives are absolutely great cigars including these. Way way better than many similar strength & flavor cigars around and above this price point. Sure they aren’t super duper premium but they’re better than your average everyday cigar by leaps & bounds. Even better if you can find them on sale or in an auction. 4 5 1

Hoyo Epicure I really liked the flavor of these cigars however I had the issue that virtually every cigar's cap came undone and by the end of the cigar it was much mouth. I'm going back to my Montecristo C knock-off. They have never disappointed. 4 5 1

Hoyo Epicure Just got my first bundle, and Wow, what a great smoking experience. Smoking it currently, couldn’t wait, the rest in Humidor. I am impressed with this gem, love darker cigars, and this definitely fits the bill. So well constructed, easy light, nice draw, great taste, not so peppery, and smokes perfectly slowly, nice aroma. Hoyo Epicure First, I would like to comment on the fast delivery on my Order of these cigars. there is a notification when ordering cigars, that it may take longer on delivery. I would like to see what express delivery looks like. my cigars arrived within 3days, I first got a taste of these cigars when I purchased them in a assorted bundle. And these became my favorite. I lit one up last night after receiving them. Construction was flawless and the aroma totally earth and tobacco. a slight peppery taste to the tongue, but once you light it, the smoke which is generated is phenomenal and the draw was smooth . The taste is almost floral very pleasant to the taste and smell. 1/3 into this cigar there was hints of cocoa. Then half way the taste went to a hint of caramel cream like where it stayed until the last part. Then it tapered off into a hint of coffee. these cigars have become my favorite. When pairing they are like water for I had this one with a dark tequila and chased with a dark beer it just fused perfectly. thank you Jr. for the affordability on these Cigars. 5 5 1
Hoyo Epicure I have written a review before, when I received them. But it did not go through. So the construction is perfect. Great draw and the smoke generated magical and the flavors of cocoa up front and coffee in the middle. At the end a floral almond taste. You can pair this cigar with coffee, whiskey, or tequila it works. These are my favorites. 5 5 1

Hoyo Epicure This is an excellent cigar. For the price, with the discount offered, maybe one of the best smokes I've had. The taste is a chocolate with hints of apricot and some spice. Draw is excellent and very consistent. A few are rolled to a slightly tighter draw, but it is within all expectation. The smoke is even burning and stays smooth. A little more spicy at the end, but retains original flavors throughout. Highly recommended. 5 5 1

Hoyo Epicure I was really surprised that this cigar was so good. It’s more to the medium than full bodied. Smooth, good draw, with a rich but creamy flavor. Good aftertaste and great with a morning coffee. I rank it so high because the flavor vs the price is fantastic. 5 5 1
Hoyo Epicure These were once my favorite cigar, I liked them better then any other premium cigar. I’ve been smoking them for years. Now, like the rest of JR Alternatives they have become crappy with a terrible draw in most cigars of a bundle. What was once the best cigar for the money has become a overpriced lousy cigar. Hoyo Epicure I have these on my fav list, however, the last batch I got, well they all tasted like dried leaves I remove in the Spring. Horrible no taste, just a dried leaf taste. Never again will I spend money for a useless cigar like this. 3 5 1

Hoyo Epicure I bought a bundle of these to try, as the Hoya epicure is a favorite of mine. They look have an okay flavor profile. Very linear (as to be expected) but there are riddled with issues from massively crooked burns, to soft spots and a draw so tight I've had to toss out nearly 25% of the sticks because they are unsmokable. And the tip does not fall apart a lot of end caps I find fall apart once you cut them this doesn't happen with this particular cigar. It also changes flavors as you smoke it. 👍🏻 5 5 1
