First came Boliche Blvd, then Devil Crab, and now Rick Rodriguez is serving up the final course in his food-themed trilogy: the limited-edition West Tampa Tobacco Company Chef Rick. Rather than rolling out just another predictable line extensions that tastes like everything else on the shelf, Rick treated this project like a master chef building a signature menu. The whole goal was to capture that kitchen-counter focus and give seasoned aficionados a serious, flavor-forward boutique recipe that wakes up the palate.If you aren't familiar with the backstory, the Cook Book series kicked off by paying tribute to the legendary food scenes around Tampa. Boliche Blvd gave a nod to the local Latino spots on Columbus Drive, while Devil Crab pulled its inspiration from the classic Ybor City croquette recipes from the 1920s. For the big finale, Rick shook things up by stepping outside his usual comfort zone. He teamed up with Raymond Pages Raffo over at the Tabacalera Pages factory in Nicaragua to bring a totally fresh perspective to this final run.
