Clevelander Metal It's beautiful, but it appears to be a new, but re-purposed wine refrigerator. It has 3 major failures. 1. The refrigeration unit and controls are adjustable from 40 to 65 degrees. Refrigeration and thermostats generally, if accurate, have a temperature swing off plus or minus 3 to 4 degrees at best, which means even if the temperature is set at 65, which is 4 or 5 degrees lower than optimal for cigar storage, it could actually cool the cigars down to 61-62 degrees, driving out the humidity as it cools. 2. The "high quality" hygrometer is inaccurate. I have 3 other hygrometers placed at the top, bottom and same shelf as the built- in hygrometer and they all read the same thing within a percent of RH and half a degree temp. The built-in reads 8% low RH and a degree and a half high in temp. 3. Not actually a failure, but my mistake, it doesn't have a way to control humidity. So the temperature control is useless, as it's not capable of maintaining 69 to 71 degrees F, and there's no way to control humidity. It is a beautiful, and seemingly air tight box and the wooden trays that appear to be retrofitted are all extremely nice, but these are inportant factors to consider. All told, I still think it's worth what I paid. I got it on sale for about 350. That's definitely on the high side, but the accessibility to the Cigars and the look and capacity are perfect. The chiller itself appears to be made very well and the retrofitted trays are nice, it's just the application for cigars is a near miss. If the temperature control could be modified to maintain a 70 degree target, the hygrometer was accurate and there was humidity control, it would be excellent. Another note is that if you were to run the chiller at the max temp of 65 degrees the nature of refrigeration alone removed humidity from the air, so my guess, though I haven't tried it, it's that it would be nearly impossible to maintain 68 to 70% RH. right now, I have the open plastic container they provided (also from some other application and just thrown in the kit) filed with distilled water and it's holding it perfect right now in the summer in Mississippi with it raining nearly every day for the last month. I don't know how it will maintain humidity when it dries out during winter. The LED light at the top is also nice, but it's in the very center of the top so it only shines on the top shelf. COB lighting around the inside of the door frame facing rearward towards the shelves would be far more effective. Might recommend. 3 3 1
