Macanudo Hyde Park Decent smoke but some sticks need a bit of massaging to loosen up the draw. Flavor and aroma is good throughout though the Macanudos shine in their consistency. The ash on several of these does what it wants; I've had a few that were razor sharp but also some that mushroomed out and/or fell every 3/4. As I'm typing this on my phone I just lost the lower half of the 1 long ash. I guess that goes with the territory when using long filler clippings though. Bit longer than their Name Brand brethren. Put a few in my long-term aging humidor to see how they mature. 4 5 1

Macanudo Hyde Park This tasted like crap. I tried them on four separate occasions each time crushing it out after about an inch of burn. They are disgusting. I thought about giving them to the bums that panhandle in our town but I they're not good enough for even a bum. I threw them all away. 4 5 1

Macanudo Hyde Park This is the second pack of these that I purchased and they are consistently good every day cigars - again the kind I can share with my seasoned smoker friends and those who know nothing about them and they are both happy with the experience. Macanudo Hyde Park I have had many bundles of the Hyde Park Alternative. I have 3 or 4 bundles right now. I've also had the Macanudo Hyde Park (the actual cigar) many times. Here's what I'll say. The original is much more consistent. The alternative is DELICIOUS AND AFFORDABLE! Creamy, sweet, almost sort of like the Macanudo, but closer to a baccarat without answeetened tip. Just a great budget smoke that is well worth a try. Consistency can be an issue, but at this price WHO CARES?!?!?! Just buy a 5 pack. Trust the reviews. You're getting a great stick at a phenomenal price. 4 5 1

Macanudo Hyde Park I'm a fan of JR Alternatives for an everyday smoke, but they can be hit or miss. Even when you find a good one, sometimes the batch can be inconsistent. Can't say that about the Macanudo Hyde Park alternatives. I can't say enough good things about them. Great flavor, well constructed, and incredibly consistent across the board. Of course you're getting what you pay for (don't expect these to hold up against the real things), but for the price, I haven't found another cigar that can compete with these. These are a MUST TRY! Macanudo Hyde Park Tried these for the 1st time as an "alternative" to Macanudos. While the flavor isn't bad, you can't keep them lit. They are more work than they are worth. So far from the half bundle i've smoked they're as good if not better than Macanudo hyde park! All of the construction has been flawless, the burn nice, slow, and flavorful. Macanudo Hyde Park I continue to buy the Hyde Park because of its flavor and reasonable cost. I am disappointed at times because of the construction. I assume these are machine made and frequently the "axis" is not wrapped tightly resulting in a poor smoke. Additionally I frequently find tobacco stems included in the cigar. These do not burn evenly. I would say that 50 to 60 percent of a pack burns as it should; the remainder have issues. 3 5 1

Macanudo Hyde Park Flavor, burn, value. Check, check, check. I still have 8 Hyde Parks in my humidor, along with a bunch of Punch Pitas, both aged, the original band, and 10 or so pretty new. But I love a decent, inexpensive smoke, and this fake Macanudo hits the spot. My only issue is is construction, which is insufficiently solid, especially around the cap, which required a lower cut than usual because the cap area was so spongy. But I'm only docking this a star and I'm rating it as an alternative, not as the real deal, which would cost it another star. If the remaining 16 are as good as the first four, I'll be as happy as a pig in...well, you know... 4 5 1

I was reviewing your website because I was about ready to order from Thompson when I just had a notion to try JR. Now I can't afford a true Macanudo cigar I would try the one with the JR label. Macanudo Hyde Park I like them just fine and will continue to smoke them regularly. I dissected one very carefully, and can verify that this is a true 'long filler' cigar... not a ‘sandwich’ of chopped tobacco. It is comprised of 7 or 8 whole leaves with a small amount of tightly compressed large pieces at the core. I can't speak on the rest of the J.R. Alternatives, but I can assure you the Macanudo Hyde Park is truly a premium cigar just as the description says. 5 5 1
