Hail Caesar I recently placed an order with JR Cigars (around $451 for cigars), which included a free Xikar J. C. Newman 125th Anniversary Cutter as a promo. This specific cutter was clearly shown in my cart and on the promo banner as a $52. 99 value. However, in my package I received a different Xikar cutter/model instead, with no explanation or note in the box. When I contacted customer service, I was told that the advertised cutter was “out of stock” and had been substituted. What makes this frustrating is that, even after their email, the website and shopping cart were still showing the original Xikar J. C. Newman 125th Anniversary Cutter as the promo item. If something is out of stock, it should not be advertised or automatically added to the cart as if it’s available. I appreciate JR’s products and fast shipping, but this feels misleading. If you promise a specific promo item with a high-value order, you should either Send the item as advertised, or Clearly inform the customer about any substitution and give them a choice. This experience really hurt my trust in JR’s promotions. For me this is a refined, creamy, medium-bodied cigar that slowly builds in strength and complexity. It’s not a heavy, in-your-face powerhouse, but it definitely has enough flavor and character to keep you interested from start to finish. With the size and ring gauge you’re easily looking at around an hour and a half of smoking time. I’d reach for the Hail Caesar when I want a classy, relaxing smoke after a good meal something with smooth creaminess, coffee and cocoa notes, a bit of wood and spice, and a slow, enjoyable progression all the way down.
