As a result of skillful selection, a breed of cattle from Belgium known for a hyper-sculpted, brawny physique spirits Crowned Heads new blend. Known for its strength and size, this distinctive breed’s double-muscling phenomenon is a fitting metaphor for the robust character of this limited-edition release. Introducing Crowned Heads Belgian Blue Limited Edition. A bold addition to the Crowned Heads lineup, the cigar was crafted to deliver a full-bodied, flavor-forward experience without overwhelming the smoker. “Many modern era cigars are intentionally blended to be strong, but Belgian Blue was blended to be full in flavor first, full in body second, and the resulting intensity and strength were a by-product of the blend,” said Jon Huber, Crowned Heads co-founder, in a press release. Belgian Blue is a powerful blend showcasing a unique box-pressed toro format. The core is weighted with an Ecuadorian binder and a filler blend from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua complementing a Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper. Most notably, known for their strength and flavor, 75 percent of the recipe comes from the ligero priming leaves that grow at the top of the tobacco plant. This balance of leaves affords strength without losing smoothness, ensuring a robust yet wholly balanced and pleasing experience. Huber also states “I’d classify the profile as intense in terms of spice, especially in the retrohale, and strong in terms of body but not in a nicotine-nausea-inducing sort of manner. The blend is comprised of 75 percent ligero with a textured base, meaning that the base leaves selected have more thickness and texture, resulting in more strength and better combustion. The profile is simultaneously strong and smooth.” The result is a medium to full-bodied smoke featuring a deep, textured base and marked by a lush, nuanced flavor profile. Expect enriched layers of pepper, leather, oak, and molasses with a velvety lingering finish. It is also important to note that the blend spice-forward, especially on the retro hale and due to its potency, you may want to smoke this cigar after a hearty meal. This cigar is handrolled at the prestigious TacaNicsa, the very same Nicaraguan factory that also makes the super popular Mil Días line for the company. Crowned Heads limited production to just 2,000 boxes of 12 cigars. So, if you like a bold cigar that delivers flavor and body without overwhelming your senses, look to Belgian Blue.
