Since launching in 2014, Crowned Heads’ annual remembrance project creates a new blend of cigars each year to pay respect to departed friends close to the company. Each release stands alone as its own unique experience and always offers something new like complete recipe overhauls, different profile blends, and everything in between. This year’s twist is no different. When most people hear San Andres wrappers, they picture a darker maduro shade with a swing of pepper and earthy notes. For this line, they’ve chosen a mid-priming San Andres wrapper. Being plucked mid-priming makes it brighter. This particular blend also lets the flavors take center stage without being lost under earthier notes that are common in higher priming yielded wrappers. The wrapper sets the tone while the Nicaraguan binder and carefully selected Nicaraguan fillers balance the incredible medium-to-full-bodied experience. The flavor centers around rich coffee and bold espresso notes with toffee threading throughout each draw.
