This line first launched in 2015 and quickly became one of HVC’s defining cigars. It blends Nicaraguan power with a more traditional Cuban influence. Like everything from HVC, this series is a tribute to founder Reinier Lorenzo’s hometown of Havana and the cigar-making culture he grew up around.
The cigar centers around a Mexican San Andres wrapper draped over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers from Esteli and Jalapa. The recipe isn’t exactly the same as the original. Lorenzo tweaked it slightly to match the box pressed design, but the flavor and smoking experience still hold steady. Expect a balanced hit of earth and wood, backed by pepper and a lingering sweetness that holds its own in this medium-to-full-bodied experience. It’s a rich, grounded, and excellently constructed cigar designed for seasoned smokers.
The HVC Edicion Especial 2015 comes in five different sizes, including the HVC Edicion Especial 2015 Corona Gorda 5.62x46, Short Robusto 4.50x52, El Grandote 6x60, the Toro 6x54, and the Especiales 6.5x48. Each size format comes in boxes of 20 with the Especiales being available for a limited time. With only 1,000 boxes produced, the Especiales is the only one in the line that comes in a 10-count and is available while supplies last.
If you’ve smoked the Edicion Especial 2015 before, now’s your shot to revisit it in its updated form. If you haven’t, this is a perfect introduction to what HVC does best. Shop here at JR Cigars and lock in a great deal for each box or grab your 10-count Especiales before they’re gone.
