H. Upmann Hispaniola by Jose Mendez Toro
Talk about an under the radar stick! I’m not a big H. Upmann smoker, but really enjoyed the AJ collaboration. On the recommendation of a trusted fellow smoker, I took a shot with this stick not being as familiar with Mendez’s work. I actually think this is the better of the two collaboration blends. A bit sweeter, with a lot of complexity that shows itself quickly, within the first half inch. There’s a lot going on here with a lot of flavors coming together in complete harmony with no single flavor dominating. Slightly stronger, but not overwhelming. I’ve smoked about a dozen thus far and the burn has been near perfect each time. It is smooth enough for the newbie that wants to step up, and experienced smokers may find this box worthy. I know that I do. Happy to see H. Upmann stepping out a bit with some more boutique in nature. Great smoke!
