Next up on our August Cigar of the Month list is the Gatekeeper from Alec & Bradley. Former brand owner Alan Rubin, along with his sons Alec and Bradley, set out to collaborate with one of the top blenders in the industry when they were in the early stages of developing the Gatekeeper. The Rubin family turned to the famed Ernesto Perez-Carrillo to help produce this 5 x 50 medium-bodied gem at his factory in the Dominican Republic.

Cloaked in an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, the Gatekeeper has tobaccos from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic that make up the binder and the filler. Once lit, flavor notes you may detect while smoking the Gatekeeper are cedar, nuts, cocoa, and leather.

If you’re unfamiliar with Ferio Tego, its Captain has been in the game for years. Michael Herklots, formerly of Nat Sherman and Davidoff launched Ferio Tego back in 2021. Since then, he’s created extremely limited production of its core lines (Elegancia and Generoso), as well as re-branded old Nat Sherman lines he purchased before the company disbanded.

Releasing a new cigar in the fall, Ferio Tego Summa is produced in the Dominican Republic at the Quesada family’s Tabacos de Exportación factory. Cloaked in an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper, the Summa has filler tobacco from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, while being bound by Ecuadorian Sumatra tobaccos.

The Summa will be available in four different sizes; a Corona Gorda, a Robusto, a Torpedo, and a Gordo. As stated before, the Summa will be released sometime this month or in September so be on the lookout!

JR Pure Origin Gran Vulcano

With Ometepe, Habano, and Jalapa tobaccos featured in this cigar, the Gran Vulcano is comprised of tobaccos that were grown from rich soil on the side of volcanos in the Jalapa Valley region of Nicaragua.

This final cigar in our Cigar of the Month box is exclusively for our JR Plus Members. This cigar is another JR Cigar exclusive brand. Arriving this month, the Samurai was created in collaboration with the cigar godfather himself, AJ Fernandez.

The message behind the brand is one that really tells us what a Samurai is all about. Which is living by a specific moral, ethical and philosophical code. This is known as “Bushido”, also known as, “Way of the Warrior”.

Hailing from Nicaragua, the Samurai features Nicaraguan Criollo tobaccos for the binder and filler, while being cloaked in an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Coming in a box of 10, the Samurai will be available in four sizes; a Belicoso, a Corona, a Robusto, and a Toro.
