The first cigar up on our list that arrives in April’s Cigar of the Month pack is the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua. Montecristo, one of the most well-known cigar brands turned 85 years old in 2021. So, Altadis U.S.A. celebrated this momentous milestone with the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua. To make sure this special occasion was done right, Altadis turned to Rafael Nodal, their elite Grupo de Maestros, a familiar collaborative to AUSA, cigarmaker AJ Fernandez.

Knowing this cigar was a homage to the greatness that Montecristo cigars have offered the last eight decades, Nodal, Fernandez, and the Grupo de Maestros chose a Nicaraguan puro blend that’s comprised entirely of Cuban seed varietals that were carefully constructed at AJ Fernandez’s prestigious San Lotano factory in Ocotál Nicaragua.

This box-pressed beauty is offered in multiple shapes and four different sizes. Each shape and size of the cigar brings its uniqueness of flavors to the palate. However, you’ll detect savory flavors of wood, coffee, cinnamon, earth, and spice throughout all four different sizes of the 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua.

Closely following in their fathers’ footsteps, Alec & Bradley Rubin, sons of Al Rubin, created the Alec Bradley Gatekeeper and never looked back. The Gatekeeper is a collaboration between the Rubin brothers and the legendary Ernesto Perez-Carrillo. This collaboration allowed the Gatekeeper to be produced and rolled at  Ernesto’s factory in the Dominican Republic.

With Nicaraguan fillers in the filler and binder, the Gatekeeper features long-filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, as well as a delicious Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. This medium-bodied gem provides sweet notes of cedar, cashews, cocoa, and leather.
