Top 5 End of Summer Cigars

August 24, 2022

Well, here we are! We’ve just surpassed the dog days of summer and some of us have our minds on one thing; fall time! I may be in the rare group of someone who absolutely LOVES the summertime. Barbecuing, swimming, outdoor activities, and most importantly, long days to enjoy a handful of cigars.

With fall and winter bearing down the rearview mirror, it is time to enjoy some last summertime smokes while the sun is out past 7:00 p.m. We’ve had our fair share of good summertime smokes in the past, but this list we’re dedicating to the ones who want some tasty cigars to wrap up yet another wonderful summertime season. Believe it or not, there are some cigars that smoke better in different seasons. In our humble opinion, these five take the cake.

So without further ado, here are our Top 5 End of Summer cigars. From Ferio Tego, to Crowned Heads. Hope you all enjoy it and don’t forget the limited-time sampler in the link below.

Warped Nicotina

Country of Origin: Nicaragua

Wrapper: Nicaragua

Binder: Nicaragua

Filler: Nicaragua Corojo 99/ Criollo 98

Strength: Medium-Full

Wrapper Shade: EMS

Size: 5.50 x 52

Smoke Time: 80-90 minutes

Leading off on our Top 5 End of Summer cigars is a smoke we discovered earlier this year. The Warped Nicotina is a delicious Medium to Full bodied gem that’s worth enjoying in the warm summer breeze one last time.

Creative genius Kyle Gellis concocted this blend at the Aganorsa Leaf factory in Esteli, where they used some high-end Nicaraguan leaves for the wrapper, binder, and filler. Utilizing Corojo 99 and Criollo 98 leaves for the filler, you’ll get an abundance of sweet chocolaty notes throughout.

With each puff of this 5.50 x 52 stogie, you’ll get hints of earth, oak, leather, black pepper, and caramel that balance to perfection the entire time you’re smoking the Nicotina. We feel like Kyle Gellis returned to form with this cigar in our Warped Nicotina review.

Wrapper: Nicaraguan Corojo

Binder: Nicaragua

Filler: Nicaragua

Strength: Medium

Wrapper Shade: EMS

Size: 6 x 44

Smoke Time: 90 minutes

Another cigar on our Top 5 End of Summer cigars also hails from the Aganorsa camp! Guardian of the Farm Cerberus is also a Nicaraguan puro gem much like the Warped Nicotina. However, the Cerberus utilizes different vintage tobaccos. Cloaked in 2012 Corojo tobaccos for the wrapper, the Cerberus has gorgeous brown tobacco that makes up for the binder and the filler.

When lighting up this medium-bodied stogie, you’ll detect subtle hints throughout all three-thirds of the cigar. Some hints you’ll detect in the first third are earth and cinnamon. On top of the flavor notes detected in the first third, you may detect a pinch of baking spices and dark chocolate as you enter the second and final third of the Cerberus.

Available in three different sizes, that come in a box of 15 for an extremely affordable price, end your summer smoke session with another top-notch smoke from Aganorsa Leaf in the Guardian of the Farm Cerberus.

Le Careme by Crowned Heads

Country of Origin: Dominican Republic

Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf

Binder: Ecuador Sumatra

Filler: Nicaragua

Strength: Medium

Wrapper Shade: Maduro

Size: 5 x 50

Smoke Time: 75 minutes

Landing smack dab in the middle of our Top 5 End of Summer cigars was one of the first cigars I ever smoked when I entered the cigar world. The Le Careme by Crowned Heads tastes great in any season, but I thoroughly enjoy it with a light beer or pina colada while I’m poolside all summer long.

Cloaked in a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, the Le Careme has Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, while the binder is made up of Ecuadorian Sumatra leaves. This combination of all three different leaves will make for one scrumptious cigar your taste buds won’t be able to handle.

Some flavor notes you may detect while enjoying this medium-bodied gem are chocolate, cinnamon, leather, and caramel. Available in eight different sizes, that come in a box of 24, you can’t go wrong with any size you chose to add to your humidor. When you light up the Le Careme, especially towards the tail end of summer, you’re bound to have a smoking experience like no other.

Filler: Nicaragua

The Boneshaker Tombstone is next up on our Top 5 End of Summer cigars. I’d recommend smoking this 6 x 60 full-bodied gem after a full day of barbecuing and eating well. With Nicaraguan tobaccos that make up the binder and filler, you’ll be getting the sweet, richness from the Ecuadorian Sumatra tobacco that’s used for the wrapper. These sought-after tobaccos hail from AJ Fernandez and his prestigious factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.

Some flavor notes you may detect while smoking the Tombstone are chocolate, red pepper, caramel, leather, and cocoa on the backend. After trying the Boneshaker Tombstone 6 x 60 War Hammer, there are four more sizes under the Tombstone umbrella for you to try! Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana

Country of Origin: Nicaragua

Wrapper: Ecuador Sumatra

Binder: Nicaragua

Filler: Nicaragua

Strength: Medium-Full

Wrapper Shade: EMS

Size: 5 x 50

Smoke Time: 75 minutes

Lastly, we have a familiar face with a new name as our fifth and final cigar to end your summer with. The Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana in the 5 x 50 Epicure size first was on the scene in 2014 under the “Nat Sherman” name. However, in 2020, Nat Sherman ended the production of cigars due to covid.

So former Nat Sherman brand and product developer Michael Herklots created his own company “Ferio Tego” and most of Nat Sherman’s brands are now “branded” under the Ferio Tego company. This was for all the Nat Sherman lovers out there to continue to enjoy what they love smoking.

This medium to full-bodied smoke is bound and filled with Nicaraguan tobaccos all while being cloaked by a gorgeous Ecuador Sumatra wrapper. Some delicious flavor notes you’ll detect while smoking the Timeless Panamericana are white pepper, cedar, leather, and oak on the backend of the cigar.

Arriving in a box of 10, that comes in four different sizes, you should add the Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana to your humidor and get it ready to smoke at the beginning of summer 2023!å
