Warped Nicotina Cigar Review

June 28, 2022

Warped Nicotina

Created by master blender Kyle Gellis, the Warped Nicotina is the newest gem to come out of the Aganorsa Leaf Factory in Nicaragua. When news hit that Warped had a new cigar line in the works, we got giddy with anticipation.

The name “Nicotina” derives from an old Cuban brand in the late 1800s, with a full-bodied flavor profile to match. What makes this Belicoso box-pressed smoke so enjoyable are the Corojo 99’ ad Criollo 98’ tobaccos that make up the filler and binder.

For our latest cigar review, we decided to dive into our humidor and check this one out. Every cigar that we’ve smoked from Warped Cigars, as well as Aganorsa Leaf, has been a pleasurable experience. So, we didn’t expect this cigar to be any different.

Here’s our full-length cigar review of the Warped Nicotina. Hope you enjoy it!

Cold Draw Impressions

Before lighting up the 5.50 x 52 Belicoso Box-Pressed smoke, I used a V-Cutter on this bad boy. Once properly cut and quaffed, I took a few cold draw pulls of the Nicotina.

Upon initial cold draw, an abundance of earth and leather was the prominent flavor notes I detected right off the bat. I was excited to see what other flavor notes would be throughout the entire smoke.

First Third Impressions

Ten minutes into the first third of the Nicotina and the flavor notes of leather remained prominent throughout. Two other flavor notes that appeared rather quickly were oak and the sweetness of caramel.

Two delicious notes of caramel and oak clashing perfectly to make this cigar like a tasty candy bar is something I always enjoy from Nicaraguan puros.

Second Third Impressions

As I entered the second third, leather, caramel, and oak took a back seat and let the spiciness of black pepper take the wheel for a wonderful drive. The appearance of Black Pepper really added another level to the leather note which made for a perfect balance for your palate.

Final Third

As we enter the final third, the only notes that remained in the final third were the black pepper and oak. When it comes to Nicaraguan puros, you’ll most likely get an overflow of pepper throughout the cigar.

The other notes within the cigar such as caramel, leather, and earth faded away once the final third started.

Pairing Options

With a full-bodied smoke such as the Nicotina, I’d recommend doing a soda or coffee if you’re a novice cigar smoker.

However, if you’re a seasoned cigar smoker and enjoy full-bodied Nicaraguan puros, the beverage I went with was two glasses of J. Lohr Red Wine.

The flavors of the red wine paired perfectly with the Black Pepper, Oak, and Earth of the Nicotina.

Final Thoughts

Available in one size that comes in a box of 25, the MSRP price for this Nicaraguan puro is $9.88 per stick. As mentioned before, any high-quality premium cigar under $10 is worth a spot in your humidor.

Following other cigars under the Warped brand, I feel like Kyle Gellis returned to amazing form with this gem that came out in January of 2022.

This utilizing the same tobaccos in the Maestro del Tiempo will give you nostalgic feels with each and every puff.
