Top 5 Corona Gorda Cigars

One of the ever-growing movements within the cigar industry is all the different shapes and sized cigars. Another great thing you get with different-sized cigars is that not every cigar fan you come across will like what you like. Yet, we all still have an appreciation for the art behind blending and crafting cigars.

As of recent, I’ve drifted towards enjoying cigars that would identify as a Toro, or commonly called, “Corona Gordas”. Corona Gorda-sized cigars start out with 5 5/8 in length, which come along with a 46 sized ring gauge. However, the popular 6 x 50 size we see all throughout the industry is now the common size for a Corona Gorda. Corona Gordas often get mistaken for Robusto, however, Corona Gorda’s are slightly bigger in length and ring gauge width.

Today, we have some of the best cigars in the business showcasing what they got in the Corona Gorda size! From Tatuaje to Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust, here are our five favorite cigars in the Corona Gorda size. Don’t forget to check out the limited-time sampler in the link below!

First up on our Top 5 Cigars in the Corona Gorda size is a favorite smoke amongst our employees at the office. The Umbagog from Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust in any size is a delicious cigar! Steve Saka is always looking out for his customers in more ways than one. Umbagog is one of the first, budget-friendly premium smoke from the guys over at Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust.

Named after one of his favorite lakes in New Hampshire, the Umbagog utilizes the same Broadleaf Tobacco from the Mi Querida line for this gem’s wrapper. With Nicaraguan tobaccos making up the filler and binder, this medium to full-bodied smoke comes in a standard 6 x 48 size that fits perfectly to be deemed a Corona Gorda. Some flavor notes you’ll detect while smoking the Umbagog are black pepper, cinnamon, cocoa, cedar, and leather on the backend.

Although we are going over one particular size, the Umbagog is available in three other sizes, that come in a bundle of 10. With the complexity of this mouthwatering smoke, I would suggest any novice wait a while before you dive into this smoke from Dunbarton. Crowned Heads Mil Dias

As far as I’m concerned, I can have the Mil Dias by Crowned Heads on every top five list we create! This cigar is superb, and Jon Huber of Crowned Heads knew that from the getgo. Translated from Spanish, “Mil Dias” means 1,000 days. That’s how long it took to bring this delicious gem from fruition to completion. The roman numeral “M’ on the cigar band also stands for 1,000 days as well.

Jon, as well as Don Eradio Pichardo and Luciano Meirelles, want the Crowned Heads fanbase to know the love and care that went into completing this cigar that’s gained extremely popular since its release in 2020.

Manufactured at Tabacalera Pichardo, this medium to full-bodied gem has an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, all while being bound and filled with tobaccos from Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Some flavor notes I detected while smoking the Mil Dias were pepper, earth, spice, and coffee on the backend.

The size featured in our five favorite cigars in the Corona Gorda size list is the 6 x 46. However, the Mil Dias is available in five other sizes, that come in a box of 20. So hop on over to our website today and get yourself a box of the delicious Mil Dias from Crowned Heads today.

Illusione OneOff

Landing in the third spot of our Top 5 favorite Corona Gorda cigars is a gem that was originally released in 2002, but got a much-needed revival when Dion Giolito bought the line from Cuban Crafter in 2017. The Illusione OneOff is one of the more popular limited edition cigars you can find within the industry.

While staying true to the original OneOff from Andrea Molinari of Cigar and Lounge based out of Milan, Italy, Dion Giolito of Illusione was able to preserve some of the original essences of the OneOff, all while adding vintage tobaccos to boost up the flavor profile. Some flavor notes I was able to detect in the OneOff are sweet cedar, cocoa, toasted nuts, and white pepper on the backend.

This medium-bodied Nicaraguan puro comes in a perfect 5.37 x 46 Corona Gorda size we all know and love. Yet, the OneOff is also available in seven other sizes that come in a box of 20. This limited-edition premium smoke is always available! So hop on over to our website today to get yourself one of these delicious gems from Illusione today.

Tatuaje Black Label

Up next is a cigar I’ve been dying to have more of. When it comes to cigars from Tatuaje, most of them are limited edition smokes so if you don’t get your hands on them they’re tough to find. The Tatuaje Black Label was originally produced in 2007, with extremely limited options. So they were only sold at conventions and cigar shows throughout that year.

Fast forward to 2013, Pete Johnson of Tatuaje made the ultimate decision to make the Tatuaje Black Label a regular production line to celebrate Tatuaje’s 10th anniversary as well as for all of us to enjoy this delicious smoke!

As far as the dimensions of this medium to full-bodied Nicaraguan puro, Pete Johnson made this Corona Gorda a delectable 5.62 with a 46 ring gauge! Some delicious flavor notes you’ll pick up while smoking the Tatuaje Black Label are fresh cut grass, cedar, cinnamon, and a touch of dried fruit on the backend.

Other than the Corona Gorda size featured in this top 5, the Tatuaje Black Label comes in six different sizes, that arrive in a box of a stunning box of 20. So stop by our website today and get the Tatuaje Black Label to add to your humidor!
