When starting the growing process in 1865, I’m sure the Plasencia family never could have imagined creating a total of EIGHT factories under their name. Four factories reside in Nicaragua and the other four reside in Honduras. Exactly 100 years after establishing their business, Plasencia began to plant and produce their own tobacco.

This move by Plasencia to start planting their own tobacco made their Plasencia Cigars S.A. factory in Esteli one of the largest producing factories in the world. They’ve collaborated with so many different companies such as Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Rocky Patel, and many more.

The fifth and final cigar on our Top 5 Cigars from the Plasencia Factory is one of ours that we produced and conceptualized ourselves in 2022. Our very own CEO, Davide Moro collaborated with Altadis USA’s Rafael Nodal to create the JR Pure Origin Gran Vulcano. With the relationship Altadis USA and Plasencia have, we took our shot at pitching this concept to Plasencia and they loved the idea.

Much like the Alma Del Fuego, the Gran Vulcano utilizes tobaccos from Ometepe, hence the name we ended up using for the first iteration of this new line. Cloaked in a Nicaraguan Habano Jalapa leaf, the Gran Vulcano uses Habano Ometepe tobacco for the binder and Jalapa Ometepe tobacco for the filler.

This 6 x 50 Medium bodied gem is a mouthwatering cigar that has an abundance of different flavor notes for your palate to enjoy! Some notes you may detect once the Gran Vulcano is lit are the typical notes you get in a Nicaraguano puro. Earth, sweet spice, leather, and hints of chocolate are some flavors I detected in this Toro.
