The lancero size might not be super popular among the masses, however, it is known as the favorite size among true aficionados.  This is due to its look, which is long and thin.

While most ordinary smokers want a more traditional-looking cigar, cigar nerds such as myself realize that a lancero size can really optimize your flavor and smoking experience.

It is with that in mind that I have decided to put together my second list of the best 5 Lancero cigars.  While there is some overlap with my previous list, some of these are either brand new cigars or lanceros that have just been smoking greatly lately.

The Oliva Serie V is one of the most consistent cigars on the market.  Its been around for a decade, yet every year receives critical praise and Top 25 mentions.  This year we saw it reach the number 6 spot but in its lancer format.

All of the flavor and intensity you love from the Serie V line are amplified in this lancer size.  Notes of earth, chocolate, and peanuts combine for a wonderful bouquet of flavors, made all the better by its thinner size.

It is a known fact that legendary blender Steve Saka is not a fan of lancer sizes.  However, he is a fan of giving his customers what they ask for, and what they wanted was a lancer.  So, as Steve does, he set about to make one of the finest lancer cigars on the market.  His anger at having to make one is reflected in its name, which stands for “Now Leave Me The Hell Alone”.

Featured in the Muestra de Saka line, Steve keeps this blend a secret.  However, we do know that is incredibly smooth, sophisticated and in his words refined.  This medium-bodied smoke has become a collector’s item for lancer smokers everywhere.

Although at first glance, this may not be the most flattering cigar, once you remove the shoddy piece of tobacco leaf used as cellophane, you will discover seamless construction as well as an oily wrapper. This medium to full-bodied smoke has delicious flavor notes of chocolate, coffee, cedar, and some subtle floral components.

This was the first Drew Estate release to bear the name of their new master blender, Willy Herrera.  It has since become one of their most popular cigars and has been lauded by review sites and publications.  While I’ve been a fan of nearly all sizes of the Herrera Esteli, this limited lancer really hits home.

Using a blend of aged Nicaraguan tobaccos, covered by a flawless Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, this cigar is packed with rich and zesty flavor.  Its construction is bar none and is the perfect example of how a blend can be elevated in this size.

The name of this cigar might be a mouthful, but that’s also the amount of flavor you’re going to get from it.  The LFD Double Ligero was always a top choice for full-bodied smokers and in this size its even better.

By using the Ligero tobaccos as well as the dark, Oscuro wrapper, this cigar is one of the strongest and most flavorful out there.  In the lancero size, however, it takes just a bit off the strength but really pushes the flavor-forward, making it a bit more complex and balanced.

Ok, this is technically more of a Lonsdale then a lancero.  However, when I found out I had the chance to put this on my list I couldn’t resist.  The Numero Uno was once a cigar only reserved for diplomats and heads of state in Nicaragua.  It was then made an event only cigar and is now released in very small batches.

This is one of my favorite cigars form this year’s trade show.  I would have included it in our Top 25, however, the rarity of it made it not feasible to include.  However, this is, in my mind, one of the best Connecticut wrapped cigars ever created and worth the trouble tracking down.
