Espada by Montecristo Signature

Following a stellar 2021 with the Montecristo Vintage 12 Blue and Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua landing high on yearly Top 25 spots throughout the industry, AUSA started off 2022 with a bang!

The new Espada by Montecristo Signature is the third installment of the Espada line. Following the Espada and Espada Oscuro, Rafael Nodal and the Grupo de Maestros created the Espada by Montecristo Signature at the famed Plasencia Factory.

Utilizing acclaimed tobaccos within Plasencia’s tobacco library, Nodal and the Maestros went with a Colorado Claro Nicaraguan wrapper that hails from the Jalapa Valley. This medium-bodied smoke features Nicaraguan tobaccos for the binder and filler as well.

Being dark brown in color, the Espada by Montecristo Signature leaves your mouth filled with silky smooth notes you won’t be able to get enough of. Flavors I was able to detect while smoking the Espada Signature were hints of espresso, wood, fresh-cut grass, and a savory tobacco spice in the final third.

This limited production comes in a singular 55 x 6 size named “Valiente”. The name represents a valiant character each tobacco brings to honor the signature crossed swords that is Montecristo. A box of 10 is marked at $135, making a single stick roughly $15.00. Being on the pricier side for a single smoke, you just have to remember that’s the price you pay for excellence, and the Espada by Montecristo Signature is just that.
