What to Expect at ProCigar 2020

Between late January and early February, the three major cigar festivals take place around the world.  There is the Puro Sabor festival in Nicaragua, which you can read about here.  There is the Habanos Festival, which celebrates all things Cuban.  Then, of course, there is ProCigar, the Dominican cigar festival.

It is safe to say that due to its location and the sheer amount of manufacturers, ProCigar is most likely the biggest of the festivals.  Since it is set to kick off on the 16th, I figured this would be a great time to give you a little rundown of the festivities, including which factories are involved and who you’ll get to meet.

Day One and Two

The first day will welcome you to the beautiful Casa de Campo resort in La Romana. After initial registration and some cigars and drinks, you’ll be able to mingle with your fellow festival attendees as well as industry insiders at a beautiful dinner celebration.

The next day begins with some personal time at the resort, followed by a seminar by the legendary Grupo de Maestros. This is the blending team behind iconic brands such as Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta.  The day ends with drinks and dinner right on the beach.

Day Three

Day three is where all the cigar fun begins. After a brief presentation and some breakfast, you’ll be given an exclusive tour of Tabacalera de Garcia, the largest cigar factory in the world. Brands such as Montecristo, H. Upmann, and Romeo all come out of this factory, and it is a true wonder to behold.  After a delicious lunch, you will depart to Santiago to begin the next phase of this amazing cigar experience.

Day Four

Seeing as there are several major factories in the Santiago area, this is where the attendees will be split into different groups to visit the various factories.  The options for this day include such iconic and historic factories as La Flor Dominicana, Davidoff, and the E.P. Carrillos factory.  If you want more of an outdoor experience, you’ll also have the option to visit the fields responsible for growing tobacco just for the Montecristo brand.

After your tours, all attendees meet back at the hotel.  Following an engaging tobacco seminar, there is a welcome dinner party, and another great chance to mingle with other members of the premium cigar community.

Day Five

The next day you’ll have the option to visit some of the factories you might have missed, including some new ones.  This includes General Cigar, La Aurora and the crown jewel of all factory tours, Chateau Fuente.  After your tours, there is the legendary ProCigar Smoking Challenge, which is detailed here.  The night ends with another massive dinner gala and more cigars then you’ll know what to do with.

Day Six

The final day of the event is full of cigars, fields, and fun activities. You’ll be able to participate in the first-ever ProCigar Members field day.  What’s more, you’ll be invited to hang out in the tobacco fields with all the members of the ProCigar festival.  Following this, there is the formal gala dinner to mark the end of another terrific event.
