Top Old & New School Limited Edition Cigars
To keep the topic of conversation interesting between fans of sports, movies, and pop culture, there’s always a discussion of “What was better?” “The Original or Remake” of a movie, the way sports were played in the ’80s & ’90s versus how they’re played now. It’s always a discussion of “Old School vs. New School”!
Well, this week we’ve decided to pay homage to both “Old School” and “New School” limited edition cigars. These cigars paved the way for the “Limited Edition” wave to thrive in this business. When you get your hands on something that is limited to the masses, it holds a higher prestige compared to a product you can purchase wherever and whenever.
We put together the Top 5 Old and New School Limited Edition cigars that are hidden gems within the cigar industry. These cigars are so rare and limited, that unfortunately four out of the five cigars in this sampler are not sold separately on our website.
Padron Family Reserve No. 50
In 2009, the Padron Family Reserve line took the cigar world by storm. Since its inception eleven years ago, the Padron Family Reserve line has won multiple cigars of the year awards, only to cement its legendary status permanently in the cigar world. In 2014, the No. 50 line was made to commemorate Padron Cigars’ historical time that spans 50 years in this industry.
This Nicaraguan puro is a medium-strength smoke that has a dark chocolate Maduro shade wrapper. The tobaccos that are in the No. 50 Maduro was aged for 10 years, making this a one of a kind smoke. The perfectly balanced flavors that flow through this smoke are earth, espresso, wood, and spice! The No. 50 Maduro is one of five lines under the Padron Family Reserve that is available on our website today. Since Padron has been around for over one hundred years, it makes its brand identifies with more of an “old school” way of making cigars!
Roma Craft CroMagnon Black Irish
The CroMagnon line for RoMa Craft Tobac was the line that really jump-started the company straight into legendary status within the cigar industry. In 2013, a limited production cigar under the CroMagnon line that helped with that success was the Black Irish. This barber pole style that’s featured on the Black Irish is a unique style for this limited cigar. RoMa Craft got the name from the term that describes a person of Irish descent with darker features. I believe this is the perfect name for CroMagnon Black Irish due to its dark Candela wrapper shade.
Cloaked in a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, with a binder from Cameroon, and Nicaraguan fillers, this Medium to full-bodied smoke as rich, delicious flavors throughout the cigar. With notes of espresso, black pepper, coffee, and chocolate, this limited-edition cigar is a rarity in online shops, as well as brick and mortar stores across the country. I would highly recommend for the cigar lovers out there to try to get your hands on this cigar any chance you get!
Litto Gomez Small Batch 2016
In 2006, La Flor Dominicana released limited cigars that made quite the splash into the industry. Litto Gomez released the self-titled small batch series for the cigar world to enjoy. He proceeded to release five other small-batch series periodically between 2007 and 2019, all in different shapes, sizes, and tobaccos to make up these limited-edition gems.
Today we will be covering the Litto Gomez Small Batch that was released in 2016. They released 250 boxes that contained 105 cigars in this limited release. The 2016 Batch is a Dominican Puro, that is pure bliss for any cigar lover. This full-bodied smoke has vintage tobaccos that produce delicious flavor notes such as cedar, dark chocolate, espresso, and spice. It’s been very difficult to find these for sale across the internet, so to have this limited smoke from LFD and Litto Gomez in our sampler is a real treat we hope you get to enjoy!
Caldwell The Last Tsar
The Last Tsar by Caldwell Cigars translates into “The Last King”. However, the name pays homage to the companies first anniversary when it was created in 2014. One year later, the Last Tsar was released on Robert’s birthday! This smoke is as limited as limited can get. Only producing 1000 boxes of 10, the Last Tsar is as premium as any of Caldwell’s cigars come.
In true Caldwell fashion, the binder and filler tobaccos are Robert Caldwell’s little secret. While the Last Tsar in the Toro size is revealed to have a Hybrid Connecticut Arapiraca Maduro wrapper. The flavors this new-aged smoke gives off are cedar, cocoa, and pepper. With the limited quantities, this smoke is in, The Last Tsar is the perfect celebratory smoke for anyone!
Arturo Fuente Opus X
The legendary Opus X by Arturo Fuente has that status for multiple reasons. Since the beginning when the Opus X debuted back in 1995, it was hard to find all over. The allure and mystery behind the Opus X play a big part in its prestigious status in the industry. This masterpiece is manufactured at Arturo Fuentes factory, where at the time, they would only produce 75 cigars a day. The time and care they put into each Opus X are obvious with each and every puff.
The Fuente Opus X is a Dominican Puro, no matter the size it comes in. As a matter of fact, the Opus X earned its place in history by being the very first cigar to use nothing but tobaccos from the Dominican Republic. The Opus X has flavor notes of honey, espresso, cedar, pepper, and a hint of citrus. This full-bodied smoke from Arturo Fuente is extremely hard to find, so if and when you come across this phenomenal cigar, you make sure you get your hands on one and never let go.
