Today on the Long Ash Podcast, Nick and Greg sit down with Travis Pappenheim, the National Education Manager from Altadis USA to go through the process of testing cigars “blindly” sort of speak.

Travis has a plethora of videos for Altadis U.S.A. where he educates the novice cigar smokers on all types of information they’ll need to start their journey into smoking cigars. We thought it’d be imperative to bring him on our podcast to show Nick and Greg the process on how their factory workers test cigars.

The process of testing cigars is a lot more in depth than we thought. From the moment it’s in your hands, to the final puff of the cigar, you’re analyzing every little nuance the cigar does or does not provide. From the burn, aroma, tasting profile, and how the cigar ashes, this in depth experience is something that was spectacular to watch.

We encourage you and to try a cigar taste testing by yourself  with your friends so you can hone your senses to detect what your palate tells you. Without a doubt there is a “band bias” that happens within the industry. This process is to see what types of cigars you may really enjoy and you may not, by simply examining what you smoke in a different way.
