Maximo As a fan of full bodied dark cigars this Black Label really pleased me. It pulls off the balancing act that I'm really looking for: tons of flavor rich chocolatey spicy earthy flavors (at one point I swear I tasted sweet BBQ pork) while still being super creamy smooth. Luscious and creamy smoke wonderful aroma the perfect draw very slow burning. The kind of smoke you get a little sad about when it's coming to an end. If you enjoy a smoke along the lines of the Mayorga maduro and the El Rey Del Mundo Reserva Nicaragua this smoke will be right up your alley. Don't cheat yourself treat yourself. 5 5 1

Maximo I bought some from a duty free store quite a while back and fell in love with it. So I decided to get some from JR. I am not sure what went wrong with the sticks I got from JR. I was going to say it tasted a little like a salty ocean taste but another reviewer said it better - it tasted a little like damp basement smell/taste. And the burn was very bad compared to the ones I bought at the Duty Free. It was canoeing and burning very unevenly. Not sure if I didn't age it long enough in the humidor. I have aged the other sticks for over 6 months now and will try another stick when the weather turns warmer. Will try to write another review then. I hope the other ones will be better because I really love the taste and smell of the ones I got from Duty Free and am really hoping I can find them at JR prices. 2 5 1
Maximo This is the strongest fullest bodied cigar that I have ever smoked. The wrapper is really dark strong and flavorful The smoke is full bodied and plentiful. The draw is good.. The wrapper is so strong and flavorful on this cigar that some times I don't even light them. This cigar is not for the faint of heart but it is delicious. 5 5 1
Maximo This is a full flavor smoke. If your not big on flavor stay away. Has notes of oak coffee cedar it's full of complex flavors. 4 5 1

Maximo Partagas Black Label Maximo is one of my favourite cigars, I have bought the box of 20 in tin tube from JR, and they are ok. A little inconsistent in the burn, but ok. This pack of 5 I bought is really sub-standard. I am just smoking the last of the five, and I must say, the cigar is plugged/rolled way too tight. I find this an issue with all five in the 5-pack, but not so much in the box of 20 tubes. The foot and body of the cigar seem fine, but the head is rolled so tight that there is no give when you squeeze it. It's like squeezing a piece of wood. Because of the tight roll, the draw is very very hard. I have to puff like crazy just to get a bit of smoke out. It almost seems there is more smoke coming out of the foot than from the head. I tried piecing it is a toothpick, and pirced about 1.5 inch in - didn't help. The rest of the cigar seems ok. The favour is there, the burn is good, and the wrapper is nice dark and oily. The draw and the tight roll really ruin the entire cigar for me. I withheld judgement until the last of the 5, but sadly, all 5 were constructed the same way - too tight in the head. BTW - the cigars were stored in a properly set humidor at 69%. All my other cigars smoke well. It's only this 5-pack that gave me trouble. I think I will stick with the tube from now on. 3 5 1
