Gran Consul Joya Antano series has long been one of my favorites. It is a Nicaraquan puro and very strong. Construction is perfect the flavor doesn't go through as many phases as some more complex cigars but I happen to enjoy the flavor it does have immensely. Shades of Cuba. I highly recommend. 4 5 1

Gran Consul I was looking forward towards a great smoke. The Joya de Nicaragua is a strong brand with a great pedigree. The size and color of this cigar was appealing. I purchased 2 and while smoking the first one I was disappointed with the lack of flavor and richness only confirmed by the second cigar I had a few days later with hopes of a different outcome. I have other Joyas that were so much better. In my humble opinion. I do notice from time to time the cigars are very hard and need to sit in my humidor for a while. 3 5 1
Gran Consul arrived ready to smoke. I was a little concerned, I usually smoke 50-54 ring gauge. Fired this bad boy up with no problem. Draw was a little tight but manageable. Burn was consistent and sharp throughout the smoke. No relight or touch ups required. It was full flavored with a refreshing green twig/balsam fir acidity on the back end of the draw.So good I ordered a Connecticut Wrapped to see the difference the wrapper made in the flavor of the cigar. Have to say the CT made for a more mellow flavor maybe medium instead of full. The refreshing back end remained, making the cigar very compelling.Highly recommend both of these for your humidor. 4 5 1
