Double Toro Great budget buy. Perfect cigar for a everyday smoke. Good draw medium flavo. Give it a try. 4 5 1
Double Toro The description of the Cuban Twist on JR’s website is most enticing. In my many (many) JR purchases, a significant number were first timers, experiments, relying substantially on JR’s descriptions, reviews and other reviews found elsewhere. Largely, JR’s descriptions have been spot on, maybe even understated. I have discovered a lot of great cigars, many at great prices, through JR’s samplers and “Flash Sales”. To date I’ve only had one bad experience. Make the Cuban Twist my second bad experience. What really stands out to me is the description, which I just reread before writing this review. Simply, if you take every statement about this cigar it describes my experience. For instance…” thick and zesty wrapper, you get a delicious medium to full body smoke with immaculate construction and a great burn…”. The wrapper was one of the poorest wrappers I’ve seen at any price point. Straight out of the bundle, blemished, flaky, dry-ish - the exact opposite of a “thick zesty wrapper”. Horrible construction. I could see this even before lighting as the wrapping was loose and course, which exacerbated lighting as it burned most unevenly while just “toasting”. It burned even worse. Impossible to anything approaching an even ash burn line. It required constant “touch ups” which were akin to complete relights. So much so, I gave up and just recut at the bottom of the canoe to try to reset the burn…never worked out. When I did get the last 1/3rd, it did have a nice flavor, but far, far away from refined. It’s very possible I just got a bad bundle. These things happen and it hasn’t stopped me from many more purchases from JR one of my favorite sources. Yes, I do agree that the price is affordable, but I wouldn’t but this again if the price was even further discounted. I’ve found one of the best things about JR is I don’t have to pay a premium price for a premium cigar experience. Some of my favorite repeat cigars are JR’s own, especially the Reserve Estali and JR Excalibur Gloria Cuba… Spectacular cigars. Smoke and learn! 1 5 1
Double Toro this cigar has a great taste even though the description given does not show everything this cigar has to offer. it does build up strength by the middle with a good kick by the end. some do have an uneven burn yet for the price its worth to have a bit imperfection. 5 5 1
Double Toro this is a short filler, very cheaply made. I would have a hard time calling it premium. I bought two bundles and feel taken. 1 5 1
