Great smokes for the price....

Stogieman on 05/21/15

If, like me, you have some expensive tastes but a limited cash flow, you might like these as much as I. Excalibur I is a tremendous stogie, with a great draw, full (medium) flavor and consistency. The JR Ex. 1 is close to exactly like the original, but it much easier on my wallet. I've smoked them for years and have seldom run into a poorly made one. This is a consistently pleasing smoke, always fresh and the price can't be beat.

Well worth the money

Mike P on 05/31/15

This is my favorite alternative. I love the Excaliber I, but not the price. This is not a 5 star cigar, but it doesn't cost as much as a 5 star. I have smoked these over the years and have rarely found a bad smoke

Excalibur #1

Evans Cigar on 05/15/15

Excellent cigar! Happiness is having two cigars and someone to share them with. Joy is finding out they don't smoke.

JR Alternative - Excalibur I

Slim205 on 06/09/15

JR Alternatives in any shape and size never disappoint. Gave less than full stars on consistency just because lately there have been 2-3 per bundle that were a little tight. Certainly doesn't stop me from making this my go to everyday stick!

Excalibar number one alternative

WilliamGoshorn on 06/14/16

Excalibur number one (alternative) has become very hard to draw.

Alternative choices

Ted Swiateck on 11/25/15

This is a great cigar for the price. Also want to say that JR is now the only place I shop for cigars. My order only takes 2 days until it's in my mail box., others take over a week or two.

Great value

Steve598 on 06/10/15

the alternative series is a great value. Well made, tasty and a good consistent draw. But I don't think the alternative names really mean anything. All cigars of the same size and wrapper seem to be the same.

Another great alternative

Chinolargo on 07/01/15

Great flavor just like the real stuff! Bundles are consistent overall with good construction and burn. Jr alternatives are an excellent everyday smoke. Can't go wrong trying your "alternative" favorite! Always worth the money.

Good cigar for the money

Big hands on 12/28/15

Good cigar for my boys and their new humidor! Good smoke, wrapper is misleading to the filler. Good flavors, I would buy again!

Good flavor, bad draw

Hugh Shearer on 12/22/15

Good tasting cigar but draw is a problem. Cut 2" off end and fixes the draw. Overall it is a good smoke and to me it is better constructed than a true Excaliber. Too many flaws in the real Excaliber. Buy these off and on and only complaint is the draw. I will continue to buy them but always cut off a couple inches. For the price they are execellant and are long enough that the 2" cut still makes it a good deal. Very good medium strength.

BEST SMOKE FOR THE PRICE WHEN IT BURNS CONSISTENTLY

Esq-Caliber on 09/03/15

For the price, the JR Alternative to the Excalibur I is generally a good deal. Rich full bodied flavor when you have the time to fully enjoy a good cigar. The only drawback to this cigar is the occasional inconsistency which causes it to burn unevenly. This is a great disappointment when you have settled in for a good smoke and find half of it gone because it has burned down one side. It doesn't happen so often that I have stopped ordering them, but just enough to be annoying.

Great cigars

Jnplen on 09/04/15

Great cigars, I've only smoked about 6 of this new bundle. So I'll rate the last bundle of the same kind as excellent. Great taste and not a hard draw in 40 cigars. I love the JR alternatives. Great cigar at a lower price.

Good smoke for the price

Jack on 06/21/16

Close to the Excalibur, draw is a bit tighter.

So far, inconsistent. We shall see.

Doc on 01/09/16

Somewhat inconsistent. Some burn nicely with a tapered ash at the lit end. Others open upon lighting like a budding flower and continue to unwrap as the stick burns.

cheap smoke

eddeed on 01/21/16

if its a hard draw use a wire ...if its 1/2or 3/4 finish , we can throw it away, not a $8.00 cigar

My one and only

Brian on 03/25/16

I like the ex 1 and think it is agood value. My only complaint is some bundles have cigars with hard spats or seem wrapped too tight to draw easily and evenly. Most bundles are fine

Could be better

Joe on 05/26/15

Good taste, poor draw, good construction, one out of five is a good cigar. I'm thinking about changing brands.

Money well spent !

vonriedesel on 08/13/16

I've long smoked Hoyo de Monterrey Excaliber Churchill's so I was a bit trepidated trying the JR. Brand of these fine cigars. I've smoke a number of them in order to gain a good insight into these private label cigars, and needless to say that I'm impressed! From the initial cut and light, through the entire smoke, I wholeheartedly recommend these cigars as a ready substitute to the Excalibur I's, especially if you are smoking at least one a day. I would have given them a five star rating cross the board, but there are very minor issues. The draw is normally very consistent, but on two of my first ten smokes, there was a noticible variation in the intensity of the draw needed to keep the smoke flowing. Very minor, but know that this might happen to you as well. The only noticible difference in the construction of the JR is that the wrapper is noticibly darker than the Excaliber. Nothing serious, but it is noticible. Flavor is outstanding in comparison to the Excalibur! The real bonus here is the price difference between the JR and the Excalibur! A third of the cost with nothing sacrificed makes these private labels well worth the time and cost!
