Alec Bradley American Sun Grown

Gordo · 6 × 60 ABSGG

(36 Reviews) | Write a review

Alec Bradley is continuing its tradition of recreating the old style blends but now with a new twist. Enter, the American Sun Grown. This 60-ring gauge beast uses the same vintage Nicaraguan filler as the American Classic, but now with an oily Nicaraguan sun grown wrapper to add in that extra spice. These smokes are available in boxes of 20 so pick one up and add some spice in your life.

Alec does it again.

Jerusalemall on 06/08/15

Mild sweet tobacco and lots of spice, this slow burner will last a long enjoyable time. Tight light grey ash that falls just over an inch, and a nice smooth wrapper make this perfect for a lazy afternoon.

Enjoyable

Slow burn on 07/17/15

Great smoke. Across the board it was very satisfying and enjoyable. Well rolled, flavorful tobacco with subtle spicy undertones makes for a great smoke. A little hard to cut (tried a new cutter out and had to work through it a little). A great smoke, nonetheless.

I picked up one of these from my local B&M. I don't remember why I got it but I was surprised how much I enjoyed it with some cheap beer.

Another great offering from Alec Bradley. Excellent construction as always, and great cool burn to go with it. Body on these is a little fuller than the Connecticut of course and the flavor profile is top notch.

Better than the American Classic by far, this one has better flavor and a little more strength to it for the same price.

Better than a Churchill.

C Enjay on 06/09/15

The larger ring gauge does wonders for this blend. Opens up the leather taste a bit more than the hay.

Another fantastic bargain of a cigar from the folks at Alec Bradley. This one has some spice behind it and some power but yet it is also very balanced and enjoyable. Medium-Full in body and great consistent flavor.

Smokey smoke

Average smoke for me. Always like a good Churchill. Nothing too exceptional about this one just some you smoke and forget. I did like the smell though.

Not too bad

operator223 on 07/02/15

This cigar isn't too bad for the price. Same wrapper issues that the American blend I had before. Smokey, woody, I didn't have draw issues with these tho. For the price not bad

Great cigar with taste

Blong14 on 08/12/15

I am a big fan of Alec Bradley in general & Prensado, Tempus, Family Blend, Nica Puro, Maxx, & K147 in particular. Except for Tabaceleria Fernandez offerings, I probably smoke more AB stogies than any other brand. Having recently changed over to consuming mostly corona sized spleefs, my search for smaller ring gauge blunts led me to Alec Bradley's hidden gem, American Sun Grown Corona. Besides being a bit more affordable than most of their 90 to 96 rated blends, ASG features my current favorite wrapper, a Cuban seed, Ecuadorian Sun grown habano, oscuro, maduro leaf. A rustic brown, mottled cuss, its somewhat peculiar appearance belies the power & smoothly executed spice it brings to the party, as it does with AB's delicious K147 blend. Expect a 45 minute voyage through medium/full bodied bliss. Layers of complex spice, volumes of peppery smoke & an underlying nutty, woody, earthy, peaty profile take this blend over the top, in my mind. Well worth the cost, I would expect to see 90+ ratings, yet they have not yet materialized. Let me be the 1st by bestowing a 91 rating upon what I consider to be one of the top 10 corona sized cigars available today. Sure to be a favorite among fullheads, proponents of sun grown oscuro type tobaccos & anyone looking for flawless construction & beguiling complexity, without paying a King's ransom.

Good cigar, meh size

JH on 07/01/15

This is one of AB's lines that hits the mark for me. Good flavors and better than average construction. The gordo is probably my least favorite size, but I wouldn't turn it down if given to me.
