Renowned master cigar blender, José A. Blanco (better known as “Jochy”) stumbled across a scattered group of unique tobacco plants while travelling through the Los Haitises National Park, located on the remote northeast coast of the Dominican Republic. After closely inspecting them, he soon realized they had not been cultivated for some time and were growing naturally. Jochy knew this wasn’t an area known for growing tobacco, so he did some research. He discovered that over 500 years ago a tribe of Tainos called Macorix resided in the area, and for them, growing and smoking tobacco was definitely an art, not just a lifestyle.
Jochy was so inspired by this unexpected find that he brought his team of skillful agronomists a handful of the seeds. After 2-3 years of careful aging, an absolutely fantastic blend of Corojo, Piloto Cubano, and Criollo 98 tobaccos was created. These delectable and unique long fillers were paired with a smooth and slightly spicy binder before being finished with a good-looking Ecuador Sumatra wrapper.
The result is a medium-bodied aromatic smoke (named Macorix, of course!) that’s loaded with rich, toasty, and earthy tobacco flavors accompanied by palate-pleasing notes of cream, nuts, sweet spice, and leather. Packed in cellophaned bundles of 20, these top-quality cigars are perfect for anytime, anywhere and are priced so low, they could easily become your daily smoke of choice. Delicious cigars, great aroma, outstanding quality and great prices… what more could you ask for?
