Did you know that Bauza is made by the legendary Fuente Family and has been produced in the Dominican Republic by them for over 20 years? Did you know that back in 1997 Bauza was one of the first non-Cuban cigars to receive a 92 rating from Cigar Aficionado magazine? And did you also know that Bauza is one of Carlos Fuente Sr.’s favorite cigars? Well, it’s all true and now that you have some of the facts, I’ll tell you more about this great cigar.
The Bauza has a perfectly aged blend of Dominican filler tobaccos and a smooth Dominican binder. It’s also a very good looking cigar with its beautiful Ecuador Sumatra Sun-grown wrapper. This wrapper doesn’t look very oily at all until you start smoking it, then you can actually see the oils oozing out right at the burn line. It feels good in the hand too, because there are no soft spots, and the pre-lit aroma as you run it past your nose has that indescribable fragrance of well-aged tobacco that lets you know that you’re in for a treat. As you slowly toast its foot to get that slight char and take your first pull of its flavorful smoke you get hints of subtle spice and coffee. The aroma is slightly zesty, but also soothing.
Turn off the TV, laptop and phone, so you won’t have any interruptions . . . It’s time to sit back, put your feet up and thoroughly enjoy your Bauza.
