Anthony:
Weekly cigar round up. Another great week of cigars.
Nicholas:
Yes, Anthony.
Anthony:
Yes.
Nicholas:
Thank you-
Anthony:
Nicholas.
Nicholas:
… for that intro.
Anthony:
You are welcome.
Nicholas:
So another week, another lineup.
Anthony:
That’s it.
Nicholas:
I can’t even think of more to say.
Anthony:
Me neither. Monday-
Anthony:
Monday.
Nicholas:
How many hands does it take to make a cigar?
Anthony:
About 300.
Nicholas:
There you go.
Anthony:
Yep.
Nicholas:
300 Hands, Robert Holt and the good folks over at Southern Draw. What I like about this line with the 300 Hands is not just that they are an amazing blend, of course, crafted by the legendary AJ Fernandez.
Anthony:
Yep.
Nicholas:
But a certain amount of money from each sale is donated back to the people of Nicaragua. He’s thinking about the people at home. He’s going to help the people who work tirelessly in the field and the factories to produce his cigars.
Anthony:
It takes a lot of time.
Nicholas:
Bravo.
Anthony:
It takes a lot of time.
Nicholas:
Bravo. Available in this nice Habano and a Maduro …
Anthony:
And the Connecticut.
Nicholas:
And the Connecticut.
Anthony:
Yep.
Nicholas:
I’m going with the Habana this week.
Anthony:
You like the Habana.
Nicholas:
I do. It’s got a little spice?
Anthony:
You got a little kick. Little kick.
Nicholas:
Little pep.
Anthony:
Little pep.
Nicholas:
Tuesday.
Anthony:
Tuesday.
Nicholas:
Tuesday, I went with this very unique blend on this. This is the vintage reserve from Mbombay. All Ecuadorian tobacco.
Anthony:
Stop.
Nicholas:
Filler, binder, wrap, Ecuador.
Anthony:
Come on.
Nicholas:
Gives it a very unique profile. Ecuador’s obviously known for their wrapper tobacco, some of their filler tobaccos, but they’re able to grow every kind of seed there, Ecuadorian Habano, Ecuadorian Sumatra, Ecuadorian Connecticut, so a very unique blend here. Smooth, nice floral notes to it as well. A nice little zest in there to kind of balance it out. Very unique profile, very delicious and very well constructed.
Anthony:
And a great shape.
Nicholas:
Even in this diadema shape. I don’t know how to pronounce that, but …
Anthony:
Diadema.
Nicholas:
Diadema. There you go.
Anthony:
Yeah.
Nicholas:
So you know.
Anthony:
You’re welcome.
Nicholas:
Honduran cigars 101.
Anthony:
Wednesday.
Nicholas:
This is the one.
Anthony:
We’re ever going to do the days of the week anymore.
Nicholas:
You’re supposed to do it before I start talking, Ant.
Anthony:
Wednesday.
Nicholas:
Honduran cigars 101. One of the best Honduran cigars ever out there. I would say the best until Oscar Valladares came along and started doing his thing, but still one of the top five greatest Hondurans cigars ever, the Alec Bradley Prensado. Number one cigar of the year dating back to 2011, 2012.
Anthony:
Back in the day. ’12-ish?
Nicholas:
Something around there.
Anthony:
Yeah.
Nicholas:
Beautifully made box press, a lot of rich, earthy flavor to it. Just the epitome of class and still one of the finest cigars out there. And if you are looking for a true representation of what a Honduran cigar could be, and should be and will be …
Anthony:
And is.
Nicholas:
The Prensado.
Anthony:
This. Thursday, Nick, it’s the Romeo, the Romeo.
Nicholas:
Oh.
Anthony:
Remember?
Nicholas:
I see what you did there, yes. Sure. This is the-
Anthony:
The Romeo y Julieta San Andres.
Nicholas:
San Andres. This was one of the first projects that Rafael Nadal kind of worked on when he became the head of product capability at AUSA.
Anthony:
Couple years ago.
Nicholas:
Yeah.
Nicholas:
This is a nice bold and rich smoke, really showcases that stunning San Andres wrapper, those nice Mexican flavors of a mixture of spice and chocolate and cream and zest all in one place. You know the San Andres wrapper, one of Gregory’s favorites.
Anthony:
Is it, Greg? He gives a thumbs up.
Nicholas:
That’s all he can do right now.
Anthony:
He says, “Yep,” because he can’t say sure or 100%.
Nicholas:
He can’t say his whole litany of phrases.
Anthony:
Yep. All removed.
Nicholas:
But if you’re looking for a big, bold and just overall complex, the Romeo-
Anthony:
Me, oh.
Nicholas:
San Andres.
Anthony:
Yep. Friday …
Nicholas:
Another box-pressed beauty here from the good folks, this is the triumvirate.
Anthony:
Yep.
Nicholas:
This is the three coming together as one.
Anthony:
It’s the AJ, the Booth, the number-
Nicholas:
And the Caldwell known as the T. This was actually placed on our top cigars of the year at the end of the year.
Anthony:
Yeah. I don’t remember what number it was, but I remember seeing it.
Nicholas:
It was on there. It was number thumb, but what a delicious smoke.
Anthony:
Yeah.
Nicholas:
I mean, you’re bringing these guys together, some of the best and most creative minds in the industry, especially when you’re talking about Booth and Caldwell, their unique themes and their unique creativity.
Anthony:
Definitely unique.
Nicholas:
And then you have AJ with his just phenomenal blending talents.
Anthony:
The know-how is unbelievable.
Nicholas:
What you have is one of the best cigars in the industry right now. Nice, dark, chocolatey notes, but also a little bit of cream in there. A very well rounded, very well balanced smoke and the construction is on point.
Anthony:
If that ain’t the truth, I don’t know what it is.
Nicholas:
Oh my God.
Anthony:
Yeah. I’ve never seen someone rub their nose in a circular fashion like that. Do you have cartilage?
Nicholas:
Oh my God.
Anthony:
It’s just …
Nicholas:
It’s the only way to get it out without sticking my finger up there.
Anthony:
Saturday?
Nicholas:
I saw what you did there.
Anthony:
The Joya de Nicaragua Antano Connecticut.
Nicholas:
Antano Connecticut.
Anthony:
Yeah.
Nicholas:
Number one cigar of the year from Halfwheel, number six cigar of the year …
Anthony:
On your list?
Nicholas:
From JRcigars.com.
Anthony:
Yeah.
Nicholas:
Just overall one of the best cigars of 2019, the brand new Antano Connecticut, taking the Antano name, which for years meant strength and boldness, but realizing now and more just means flavor and a balanced characteristic, which is what you get with this luscious and vivacious Connecticut smoke from Joya de Niacaragua. As I said, one of the best cigars of the year. One of my new favorite Connecticuts and just one of my new favorites in my rotation.
Anthony:
It’s a beautifully blonde cigar, Nick.
Nicholas:
It is. And I love how the red contrasts, and then the gold in the band-
Anthony:
And then the gold.
Nicholas:
… contrasts.
Anthony:
Looks like the 49ers.
Nicholas:
Yes.
Anthony:
Sunday, super silky smooth Sunday.
Nicholas:
Well it was the big game yesterday.
Anthony:
Yeah.
Nicholas:
So I needed a big cigar.
Anthony:
Did this make it through the whole … That didn’t make it through the whole game.
Nicholas:
It did, because I would set it down. I would relight it. You know you’re not supposed to do that, but I did it.
Anthony:
Okay.
Nicholas:
I had my Buffalo chick dip.
Anthony:
Yep.
Nicholas:
Had a slice of pizza.
Anthony:
Yep. Did you have a bunch of cookies?
Nicholas:
No. So this Padron 1964 with all its great Nicaraguan flavor really got me through the game, and look at the size of that.
Anthony:
That’s a foot-long freaking cigar, dude.
Nicholas:
It’s a three-and-a-half hour smoke.
Anthony:
This is huge.
Nicholas:
It’s a football field-sized cigar if you would.
Anthony:
There it is, hundred yarder. Week-at-a-glance stash.
Nicholas:
Week-at-a-stash glance. Thank you very much for watching. Enjoy your week. Any questions, comments, put them in the bottom and enjoy.
Anthony:
We won’t answer you.
Nicholas:
Yeah.
Anthony:
That’s it.
