Weekly Cigar Roundup: Electronics and Food Galore!

Anthony:

So Monday, Nick, it was a great Monday.

Nick:

It was [crosstalk 00:00:03].

Anthony:

Did you look for any deals?

Nick:

Did I look for any deals?

Anthony:

Monday deals, Presidents’ Day deal. They have deals on Monday, on everything, electronics, food, everything.

Nick:

I have enough electronics and food to last me.

Anthony:

So Monday, M for Monday, M for Macanudo.

Nick:

The M by Macanudo but the bourbon-flavor one. If you like bourbon, like I do…

Anthony:

This is it.

Nick:

This is it right here. It’s going to have that nice, slight zest too, but also soft hints of bourbon. You get the wood, the wood barrel, as well. This is a great pairing cigar if you’re a bourbon smoker. It’s not overly infused, where it’s like perfumey and not good. This is a high-end, premium cigar but with just that touch of bourbon.

Anthony:

But you definitely get that aroma off the wrapper for sure. Tuesday.

Nick:

This is a brand new cigar from the legendary H. Upmann brand.

Anthony:

The Herman’s batch.

Nick:

Herman’s batch. Named after Herman Dietrich Upmann who was the banker who founded H. Upmann. Very unique blend. It’s got a mixture of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos in there. Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. But what I like about it is all of the sizes are very Cubanesque sizes. The biggest one is going to be this here Toro, but there’s also a Corona Gorda, a Robusto and lonsdale, which is not… You see a lot of lancero’s now.

Anthony:

Not typical.

Nick:

Not a lot of lonsdales anymore, but they’re made in that very Cubanesque size to pay homage to the founding of the brand in Cuba. Very, very good cigar.

Anthony:

And you got the signature right there at the bottom. So if you wanted-

Nick:

Yeah. He signed it himself.

Anthony:

Forge one of his checks, you can do it.

Nick:

What’s up brother?

Anthony:

What’s up?

Nick:

You get it?

Anthony:

I got it.

Nick:

Well then why are you not [crosstalk 00:01:31]-

Anthony:

Fratello. I’ve responded. I said what’s up?

Nick:

That’s not how you’re supposed to be. You’re supposed to “Oh yeah, Fratello brother.” You’re just sitting there like a Guibroni.

Anthony:

Wednesday, the Fratello brothers.

Nick:

Who were the bad guys in Goonies? Fratellis.

Anthony:

Was it Fratelli?

Nick:

The Fratelli brothers, yeah. But here we have the Fratello from Omar de Frias. A giant with a heart of gold.

Anthony:

He’s huge.

Nick:

He’s a big guy.

Anthony:

He’s a big guy.

Nick:

But with a big guy comes big flavor and that’s what you get in the Fratello. What a great blend of tobaccos. Love that size. That’s a lonsdale-ish size.

Anthony:

Which is a good size.

Nick:

It’s a very nice size.

Anthony:

Little thicker.

Nick:

Little thick. Yeah. Little thicker. But beautiful bouquet of flavors. Construction is top notch. And I mean I always love the logo. I love the branding of Fratello. It is very unique, modern but with a touch of ’60s classic.

Anthony:

If you do this, it almost looks like you should stop here to get your hair cut.

Nick:

Yeah. That’s the whole point of the brand.

Anthony:

Do you know why they did that? Something about blood, right?

Nick:

Because it was also blood-letting. They do blood-letting there. And also they would hang out. When they would come in for a surgery, they would hang… Because they also did surgery. They would hang out their bloody rags to dry outside and it would look like… That’s what happened.

Anthony:

Did you know that? Did you guys know that?

Nick:

Here from the Crowned Heads the Juarez.

Anthony:

This is Thursday.

Nick:

[inaudible 00:02:45] Thursday Juarez.

Anthony:

Yeah, Thursday Juarez.

Nick:

Named after, I’m guessing, the city in Mexico, Juarez. It is a Mexican San Andreas wrapper fitting, but very nice to go. I don’t want to call it their budget smoke, but it is on the cheaper side in terms of price from the other Crowned Heads’ offerings, but very good smoke. One of the big ones this year that’s been talked about. They just come out with a new secret size called the Shots, that’s just getting shipped out pretty soon. But nice bold flavor. You get that richness and that little bit of spice from that Mexican wrapper. It’s a fantastic cigar. [crosstalk 00:03:21] I can’t remember the name of the factory, but it’s made at a very small factory that not a lot of people know about. Very unique factory.

Nick:

This is a special only for us cigar.

Anthony:

Only here.

Nick:

This is the brand new Monte Cristo Volume 1: 100 Days.

Anthony:

100 Days.

Nick:

Named after the portion of the book, the Count of Monte Cristo, where the name of the cigar comes from. There are aged tobaccos in here that have been aged up to five years. Very smooth, very flavorful. The construction is on point. I think this might be the best Monte Cristo exclusive we’ve ever had.

Anthony:

It’s a visually stunning wrapper on this thing, Nick.

Nick:

That’s an Ecuadorian Habano on there and it’s-

Anthony:

Not a lot of veins.

Nick:

No, but a…

Anthony:

Nice and smooth.

Nick:

Good amount of oil on it. Not too oily. But it’s actually a lighter color for a Habano, but that [inaudible 00:04:01], that age. It’s going to be very smooth, but you’re still going to get the flavors you’re looking for.

Anthony:

I like it.

Nick:

Remarkable cigar.

Anthony:

I like it.

Nick:

Saturday, the newest cigar from our friends over at My Father, the La Promesa. This was a top-

Anthony:

The Promise.

Nick:

Yeah. This was a top 25 for us this year. This is a My Father through and through. Nothing negative to say about it, man. It has that spicy yet rich yet smooth profile that almost all My Fathers have. Would have like to have see a little bit different band work. It’s kind of just the standard My Father band work and I think the cigar deserves a little bit more than that. I really like the smoke. But I feel like unfortunately it’s just kind of going to fall into the portfolio of My Father brands when this is, I think, very special. It’s a really, really good smoke.

Anthony:

That blue, I feel like, could have been a really cool…

Nick:

I just feel like they should have done something like when they did the Flor de Las Antilles. It was a totally different thing. I would’ve liked to have seen that from them, but a fantastic cigar nonetheless.

Anthony:

Still a good smoke.

Anthony:

And Sunday.

Nick:

Sunday, I needed something-

Anthony:

Rounding out the week, Nick.

Nick:

Yep. I needed something extra special. So I went with the Crown Heads Four Kicks Mule Kick Limited Edition 2019.

Anthony:

FKMK LE19.

Nick:

That’s the code?

Anthony:

Yeah.

Nick:

Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper on this bad boy. Nice and dark and maybe some nice coffee flavors in there. One of their most popular yearly additions, up there with the Las Calaveras. Right?

Anthony:

Mm-hmm (affirmative).

Nick:

We’re getting it. One of my favorites from them, especially, it’s something to get excited for. They had a lot of-

Anthony:

Something a little different.

Nick:

That had a lot of secret releases this year. They had the Shots and they had the Full Court Press. But this is something that you can count on every year and everyone gets excited about and it sells out all the time. So make sure to pick them up when you can. Break. Huddle.

Anthony:

We get a [inaudible 00:05:39] stash.

Nick:

Another fantastic week, another fantastic round-up. Thank you very much for watching.

Anthony:

Thanks.
