On this week’s episode of The Long Ash Podcast, Nick and Greg welcome an old friend and a very special guest, Travis Pappenheim. Travis Pappenheim is the National Education Manager for Altadis USA, which has cigars such as Romeo y Julieta, Montecristo, H. Upmann and more under their brand.
Travis stopped by to talk to the guys about the new cigar brands that were released at the 2019 IPCPR trade show and how they’re now available for purchase at jrcigars.com. They go over new cigars under the H. Upmann, Montecristo, and Trinidad brands that you’ll need to try as soon as possible.
First, they talked about the Montecristo Cincuenta. Released in 2019, Montecristo Cincuenta cigars were made to honor the 50th anniversary of Tabacalera de García, the company’s iconic factory in the Dominican Republic that continues to produce some of the world’s most popular brands.
Next, they discussed another cigar under the Montecristo brand name, and that cigar is the Montecristo Epic. No. 2. The Montecristo Epic No. 2 is a limited-edition early release from the famed Grupo de Maestros. Coming in a handful of different sizes, The Montecristo Epic No. 2 is one of Montecristo’s most flavorful cigars with flavor notes of wood, vanilla, cedar, and hints of black pepper.
After discussing the Montecristo Epic No. 2, the guys talked about the H. Upmann 175th Anniversary, a cigar Greg thoroughly enjoyed throughout the episode. Crafted by AJ Fernandez, The H. Upmann 175th Anniversary is a Nicaraguan puro that only used rare medio tiempo tobacco leaves, that are usually found on the highest parts of tobacco plants.
Lastly, Travis, Greg, and Nick moved on to talking about the Trinidad Espiritu. The Espiritu seems to be catching a lot of people off guard. The colorful box, as well as the citrusy flavors really allow this cigar to be one of the best out of Altadis in 2019.
