The Difference Between a Cigarillo and a Cigar

November 10, 2015

What Is A Cigarillo?

A cigarillo by definition is just a miniature cigar. Virtually impossible to roll, even by the smallest of hands, machines always make these cigars. Even those in the premium category.

Diehard fans of these little sticks that range in size from 3” to 4.5”, and sport ring gauges in the 20-30 range, love them because they can be consumed in a shorter period. Perfect for a lunchtime break, or a quick tobacco fix, this size cigar just happens to be enormously popular in Europe. In fact, it is the preferred size.

The short amount of time that they take to smoke, make them a preferred choice among those just starting the hobby, that feel a full size stick may be too overwhelming. Due to their diminutive size, the average cigarillo smoke negotiates several a day; therefore, they are often sold in packs of 25, or boxes of 50.

Cigarillos generally only take 10 to 20 minutes to smoke, making them popular among people who are just starting to smoke cigars as well. A full cigar can sometimes be overwhelming for a new smoker.

Among cigarillos, there are several types but the main difference among them is quality. Getting a better quality cigarillo can change the whole experience. Many premium brands such as Macanudo, Don Diego, Ashton, and Arturo Fuente, to name a few, offer this size as a quick-smoking alternative for their consumers.
