Top Five Thin & Slim Cigars You Need To Try

November 1, 2021

While big-ring and extra long premium cigars are growing increasingly popular, it is important to remember that not every aficionado out there has the time to indulge in a big and beefy smoke. Thin cigars that are on the slimmer side, on the other hand, offer a smoking experience far briefer compared to their larger cousins.

What are thin cigars?

In case you are unaware, the ring gauge measures the thickness of any cigar with each increment in the ring gauge corresponding to 1/64th of an inch, so a cigar with a ring gauge of 32 is a half-inch wide.

Thin cigars are sticks that have an exceptionally small ring gauge. The thinnest handmade premium cigars have a ring gauge of 38, however machine-made cigars can be much thinner with ring gauges as thin as 20.

There are also a variety of different sizes that feature thin ring gauges, such as a classic Cigarillo that is around 4×30 to 4.5×32 in size, the famous 4.88×42 Blunt, and even some that feature a wooden or plastic tip reminiscent of a pipe mouthpiece.

Thin machine-made cigars are a popular choice with smokers on the go who simply do not have the luxury to indulge in an hour or longer smoking experience.

What are the benefits of smoking a slim cigar?

Perhaps the biggest advantage of smoking a slim cigar is the time-saving aspect. Thin cigars with ring gauges of 32 and under smoke faster compared to a thicker cigar. Slim smokes also tend to be shorter than full-sized cigars, with most measuring in at five inches or less in length.

Thin cigars can also come in a wide variety of top-quality flavors to choose from, providing a smoking experience that is not only brief and to-the-point but also bursting with rich and unique flavors. Slim cigars crafted by a machine also have top-notch consistency, so from one stick to the next you know that you are going to have something good.

Best of all, thin cigars tend to be far more affordable than their full-sized cousins, especially thin cigars that are machine-made rather than handmade. These skinny sticks are great not just for aficionados short on time, but also for smokers who are looking to save a buck.

Not sure if in the same category, but Parodi is a great cigar. I like the Ammezzati. Dry cured so you can keep them in a desk or pocket, short so you can have a quick cigar. I like premium cigars for sure, but Parodi is a good cigar on its own merits.
