Highclere Castle Victorian

July 9, 2019

The 2019 IPCPR tradeshow saw the release of the newest cigar from Foundation Cigars. These cigars were a high end premium offering that takes its name from the famed castle in England where the BBC drama Downton Abby was filmed.  Nick Melillo used records from the castles archives to recreate a smoke that was similar to what the Aristocrats use to smoke in the days of old.  It was a highly rated Connecticut wrapped smoke that was lauded for its smooth body and creamy rich flavor.  The Highclere Castle Victorian ups the ante with more strength and more flavor.

It uses a similar blend to the original with a completely different wrapper.  It uses a Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, the 7th priming, giving it more of a Café maduro look then a dark oscuro.  The wrapper is cloaked over a Brazilian Mata Fina binder and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos.  The Highclere Castle Victorian offers the same smooth elegeant profile as its predecessor, its flavor profile and strength is considerably higher.  IT is going to have much more of a spice as long as rich leather notes and some sweetness as well.

The Highclere Castle Victorian is one of most talked about cigars of the year and rightfully so.  Each of Nick Melillos releases has been incredible and the Highclere Castle Victorian is no exception.  Expect it to hit our shelves in the coming weeks, until then you can find the entire line of Foundation Cigars, including the original Highclere Castle, right here at JR cigars.
