Cuban Montecristo No. 4 Cigar Review

October 17, 2018

When discussing the best Cuban cigars, Montecristo is always in the top two, usually behind Cohiba.  Now when looking at ratings and prestige, the Montecristo #2 usually takes the cake, however, it is not the best selling Cuban cigar, in fact, it’s not even the best selling Cuban Montecristo cigar.  That honor goes to the Cuban Montecristo #4 cigar.  This petite corona has been the number 1 selling Cuban cigar throughout the entire world for years, and for a damn good reason.

First, let us take a look at the craftsmanship behind a Cuban Montecristo #4 cigar.    It is handcrafted in Cuba using only the finest Cuban tobaccos for the filler, binder, and wrapper.  While the blend of Cuban cigars is usually kept under lock and key, it is safe to assume that the tobaccos for this blend were grown in the legendary Pinar del Rio region, one of the best areas for cigar tobacco in the world.  The Cuban Montecristo #4 cigar is rolled into what we would call a petite corona.  It is a small yet fierce medium to full bodied cigar.  Each puff delivers notes of coffee and cocoa with the smallest hint of vanilla becoming apparent about a quarter of the way through.

Is the Cuban Montecristo #4 cigar the best Cuban Cigar ever created?  Well, that’s entirely up to you.  While it is fantastic, the reason for its immense popularity is the same as most cigars in the industry, the price.  Since the #4 is rolled into a much smaller size, it doesn’t command the price of let’s say a Cuban Montecristo #2 cigar.  This is a nice an easy quick smoke for someone looking for a high quality, short Cuban cigar.

If you are traveling outside of the US and happen to be in a Cuban cigar store and looking for a quick smoke, the Cuban Montecristo #4 cigar is a perfect choice.  However, if you are buying cigars online in America, there are a few similar options for you.  For a comparable size and flavor profile, you should check out either the Tatuaje Havana VI Angeles or the Warped Maestro del Tiempo 5205.  Both of these companies are well known for following Cuban styles and the sizes of these two cigars are spot on for the Cuban Montecristo #4 cigar.  Keep checking us out for more reviews and discussions about the best Cuban cigars.
