The first cigar to be featured for May’s Cigar of the Month selection is the Prensado in the Churchill size from Alec Bradley. Named the top cigar in 2011, the Prensado is made up of only the finest tobaccos from all over South America.

Cloaked in Honduran tobacco, the binder and filler of the Prensado is made up of tobaccos that hail from both Nicaragua and Honduras. This medium to full-bodied cigar will last you roughly two-hours in this 7 x 48 Churchill size. When it comes to Churchill, specifically the Prensado, the delicious flavor notes will be on the forefront of your palate that only intensifies the smoke session you’re about to endure.

Some flavor notes you’ll detect while enjoying the Prensado are coffee, chocolate, nuts, caramel, and cinnamon on the backend. Next up is one of the founding cigars for this company that was founded 20 years ago. My Father Cigars released the My Father No. 1 roughly fifteen years ago. The 5.25 x 52 Full-Bodied Robusto landed in the Number 3 spot back in 2009 on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 list.

Hailing from Nicaragua, the My Father No. 1 has Nicaraguan tobaccos that make up the wrapper, binder, and filler. However, the wrapper is a Nicaraguan stunning reddish Habano Rosado wrapper that is extremely appealing to the eye.

Once lit, the aroma and flavor notes match with how delicious both come off of the My Father No. 1. Some flavor notes your palate will detect are white pepper, espresso, wood, raisins, and cream upon finishing the final third.

A personal favorite with a handful of us here at JR is next on our Cigar of the Month list for May 2023. The Ramon Allones by AJ Fernandez is a Medium to Full-Bodied cigar that is a treat for your palate every time you light it up to smoke. All cigars are special to a seasoned cigar smoker. However, this line from AJ Fernandez means a little more for him.

The original Ramon Allones was AJ’s Fathers favorite cigar brand back when they lived in Cuba. So AJ wanted to pay tribute to his father by utilizing tobacco from the original aread where the original Ramon Allones was grown in Nicaragua. AJ didn’t stop there. He had to make sure the packaging and bands on this line paid homage to the cigar his father fell in love with all those years ago.

The 6 x 52 Toro included in this month’s Cigar of the Month package is cloaked in a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper, while Nicaraguan Corojo 99 and Criollo 98 tobaccos make up the binder and the filler.

Aging Room cigars were introduced in 2011 by Rafael Nodal. At first, Aging Room was a small-batch company producing high level premium cigars for all seasoned cigar smokers. In 2019, Rafael Nodal and Altadis USA teamed up with AJ Fernandez to make a medium to full-bodied Nicaraguan puro everyone will love. That smoke turned into the Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua.

After its nationwide release, the Quattro Nicaragua was voted the #1 Cigar of the Year in 2019 for Cigar Aficionado and never looked back. The 6 x 54 “Vibrato” featured in this month’s package has scrumptious notes of white pepper, nuts, spice, earth, and espresso.
