Binder: Indonesia
Filler: Dominican Republic / Nicaragua
Length: 5
Ring: 52
Strength: Medium-Full
Smoke Time: 80 Minutes
First, on our top 5 Halloween cigar list, we’d like to highlight that comes from industry giant Drew Estate. Over the years, Drew Estate has produced some of the most versatile and innovative cigars on the market. This blend is known as the Nightshade by Drew Estate.
This cigar was manufactured at the La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate factory. Just by looking at the band on this cigar, the black and red color scheme gives the cigar a more intense undertone at first glance. This band also complements the dark Connecticut Habano wrapper. Fitting for the Halloween season!
This medium-full-bodied smoke has flavor notes consistent with dried fruit, espresso, black pepper, chocolate, and leather.
This blend is available in the Robusto size in 5, 10, and 20 packs. Order it on JR Cigar today!
Crowned Heads Las Calaveras 2023
Crowned Heads Las Calaveras 2023
Country of Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: San Andres Mexican
Binder: Connecticut Broadleaf
Filler: Nicaragua/Pennsylvania
Length: 6
Ring: 52
Strength: Full
Smoke Time: 100 Minutes
The next cigar on our list is one of the latest concoctions from the very popular Crowned Heads Company. The Las Calaveras 2023 is Crowned Heads’ 10th annual limited-edition release and was crafted at the My Father Cigars factory in Esteli Nicaragua.
The band of this cigar might not be scary at first glance. But this blend is very fitting for Halloween because of the cultural significance behind the name.
Although calaveras translates to “skeleton” in Spanish, the word has become associated with Mexico’s Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). For a cigar to be named after this holiday, it doesn’t get spookier than that!
This medium-full-bodied smoke has flavor notes associated with cocoa, sweet cream, pepper, and earth. This blend comes in one size and is currently available in packs of 24.
Deadwood Girl with No Name
Country of Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Unknown
Filler: Unknown

Next on our list of top 5 Halloween cigars, we have another blend that Drew Estate put together this year to add to the Deadwood Tobacco Co. Lineup. This cigar is known as the Deadwood Girl With No Name. The girl with no name is Deadwood Tobacco Co.’s first Connecticut-style cigar.
The Deadwood Girl With No Name features iconic skull girl artwork on the band and the box. This adds to the mysterious skull aesthetic that has been portrayed in the different editions within the Deadwood line (Sweet Jane, Fat Bottom Betty, Crazy Alice).
This blend is available in packs of 20 and is made exclusively for JR Cigar and sold in very limited quantities.
Order it on JR Cigar today, don’t miss the opportunity to try out a pleasant smoke like this!
Dunbarton Mi Querida Triqi Traca
Country of Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Dominican Republic
Length: 6
Ring: 48
Strength: Full
Smoke Time: 100 Minutes
The next recommendation on our list of top 5 Halloween cigars list comes from Steve Saka’s Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust. The Mi Querida Triqui Traca is a premium cigar that was manufactured at the Nicaragua American Cigars Factory.
Although this cigar doesn’t have a scary backstory, we decided to recommend it based on the play on words of “Triqui Traca” and “Trick or Treat”.
Aside from the wordplay, the Triqui Traca is named after a Nicaraguan slang term for firecrackers. Considering the explosive flavor that this full-bodied cigar is jam-packed with, I believe that this is a very fitting title.
This blend is one of the boldest smokes to be released by Dunbarton Tobacco. It has flavor notes of red pepper, tree bark, cinnamon, cocoa, and coffee.
This blend is available in packs of 20 in multiple sizes and can currently be found at JR Cigar.
Boneshaker Maul
Country of Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Length: 6
Ring: 54
Strength: Full
Smoke Time: 80 Minutes
The last cigar we’d like to recommend for the Halloween season comes from none other than AJ Fernandez at his well-known Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez factory in Esteli Nicaragua. The Boneshaker Maul is the third release under the Boneshaker line.
Just the name “Boneshaker” already fits the theme for the holiday! Coinciding with the name, the cigar band features a skull to nail the Halloween spirit. This premium blend is a powerhouse of flavor and strength for any seasoned cigar smoker. We recommend to
The Boneshaker Maul comes equipped with flavor notes of chocolate, earth, espresso, oak, and spice.
The Legend of Halloween (The Movie Franchise)
The story began at the tail-end of the 70s thanks to the creative genius of John Carpenter (director) and Debra Hill (producer), the co-writers of the original movie. It was an instant shocker, with Michael Myers making his first kill at six on Halloween in 1963.
After murdering his sister, Myers is admitted to a mental health hospital for 15 years before he escapes, returning to his hometown of Haddonfield. Then he spots Laurie, who becomes the object of his murderous fascination for the next 45 years.
The reason Myers targets Laurie varies depending on which franchise timeline you follow, as the storyline goes back and forth slightly between directors. In the original, Michael’s victims are young women who seemingly remind him of his sister, each serving as a re-enactment of his first kill. Other girls meet the deathly fate of his attacks, but Laurie has consistently managed to fight back and escape. She becomes the ultimate challenge, which Michael won’t stop trying to defeat, killing everyone in his path.
From Halloween II to Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, the plot arguably loses sense of its origins, spinning off into unexpected family ties, cultish gatherings, and Samhain curses. It isn’t until the plot resurgence in Halloween (2018) that the movies seem to forget everything after the first film, bringing Laurie back to a randomly chosen victim that Michael can’t stop chasing.
No matter which timeline you follow, every movie within the franchise is a thrilling slasher that is all-encompassing of Michael Myers and Laurie. With Halloween Ends, we may see the final battle, but we won’t know who wins until the credits roll.

Tatuaje Skinny Monsters
Kicking things off with our Top 5 Cigars for Halloween 2021 is one of our favorite lines from Tatuaje. If you’ve noticed a lot of cigars brands have themes to them. Well, Pete Johnson of Tatuaje was the first to really set that trend. First came the “Little Monster” series, next was the “Pudgy Monster”, then to round out the Monster series, Johnson kicked gifted us with the “Skinny Monster” series.
Tatuaje Skinny Monsters is a premium-cigar line that’s dedicated to old-school monsters throughout the Hollywood Horror genre world. He has the likes of Jekyll, Hyde, Jason, and many others.
Today, we’re featuring one of my personal favorites, the Skinny Monster Face. Paying homage to Leather Face from the gruesome 1974 classic ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’. Cloaked in an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, the Face has tobaccos from Nicaragua to make up the binder and filler. Some flavor notes you may detect while smoking the Skinny Monster Face are cedar, coffee, and red pepper throughout.
All thirteen Skinny Monsters in the series arrive in the same 6 x 38 size, which is available in a box of 25. If you’re looking for a cigar that will really get you into the spooky season spirit, then the Skinny Monsters by Tatuaje are the ones for you!
Las Calaveras 2021
Next up on our Top 5 Cigars for Halloween for 2021 is another yearly limited release from our good friends over at Crowned Heads. The Las Calaveras series is a cigar line that is dedicated to the loved ones we lost over the last year. The yearly holiday celebrated throughout Mexico is called “Day of the Dead”, in which people wear wooden skulls, or “calacas”, dance and celebrate as a remembrance of the deceased.
Well since 2014, Crowned Heads incorporated that skull into the branding of this cigar line to add a deeper meaning of remembrance to the ones we’ve lost. This year, the Las Calaveras 2021 is fashioning a yellow band that is very eye-catching to the smoker.
Cloaked in an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, the Las Calaveras 2021 is bound and filled with top-notch Nicaraguan tobaccos that hail from the My Father factory, which is a collaborator on this limited-edition gem. Flavor notes you’ll detect while smoking this cigar are fresh-cut grass, leather, espresso, and cinnamon on the backend.
Available in three different sizes, that come in a 4 pack sampler, or a box of 24, you can not get the limited and rare cigar, Las Calaveras 2021 today, on JR Cigars!
Room 101 Doomsayer
Next up on our Top 5 Cigars of Halloween 2021 is the ever-so-popular smoke from Matt Booth and Room 101. With a name like “Doomsayer” you know we had to add it to our ever-so-popular Halloween list.
The Room 101 Doomsayer is available in two distinctive blends, the Aggressive Maduro and Passive Habano. Today we have the Doomsayer, Aggresive Maduro, a part of our Halloween Collection today.
This 6 x 55, limited edition beefy stick is cloaked in a delicious Ecuadorian Maduro wrapper, all while having various tobaccos such as Pennsylvania and Indonesian leaves to make up the binder and filler. Some flavor notes you may detect while smoking this medium to full-bodied smoke are black pepper, cocoa, vanilla, and wood all throughout.
Coming in a 55-count box, the Doomsayer is a delicious smoke that would pair perfectly with a small pack of Peanut M&M’s or darker, rich chocolate you may find in your goody bag on Halloween!

Coming up next on our Top 5 Halloween Cigars of 2021, we have the flavorful full-bodied gem from Black Label Trading Co. “Black Works Studio”. Black Works Studio is designed to sell small batch cigars which focus on the artisanal side of crafting cigars. So we knew for this list, we had to add the Killer Bee from Black Works Studio, with it fitting perfectly with our Halloween-themed list.
Accenting candela barber pole on the cap of this cigar, the Killer Bee is bound and filled by Nicaraguan tobaccos, all while being drenched with dark, delicious tobaccos that hail from Ecuador. Flavor notes you may detect when smoking this 4.50 x 46 Petite Corona are a hint of white pepper, coffee, earth, and a cedar finish.
Available in one size that comes in a box of 24, this tiny little gem is worth smoking after a long night of dancing to the Monster Mash.
Oscar Valladares Heaven and Hell
The last cigar featured on our Top 5 Halloween Cigars of 2021 is a part of a two-part release. In 2021, Oscar Valladares released the Oscar Valladares Heaven and Hell. We added the Hell Toro Maduro to our Top 5 because Halloween brings out the devil in some of us!

Top Five Cigars for Halloween - 2020
This is my favorite time of the year, hands down. As a bigger guy, the cooler weather allows me to use the full extent of my wardrobe which is nice, and I am a huge horror movie fan. So I always see Halloween as a time for celebration, and what better way to celebrate than with some fine cigars?
In the modern cigar industry, there are so many unique and artistic themes that fit in perfectly with the horror holiday, so let us take a look at the five best cigars for Halloween.
Tatuaje Skinny Monsters Drac
When discussing cigars for Halloween, or any horror-themed cigar in general, the Tatuaje Monster series is always mentioned first. For 13 years, Pete Johnson and the Tatuaje team have been releasing limited edition cigars named after famous movie monsters. Among my favorite is the Drac, especially in the skinny monster lancero size.
Named after legendary vampire Dracula, this thin smoke uses Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos along with a zesty Ecuadorian Habano wrapper for a full-flavored cigar experience. The thinner ring gauge makes it even more flavorful due to the wrapper to filler ratio, which is why it’s among my favorites.
Boneshaker
The Boneshaker is still among my favorite private labels we have here at JR. It is amazingly flavorful and one of the strongest cigars on the market. However, neither the strength nor the flavor is overbearing. The Boneshaker is also made in the same factory as the Dunbarton Mi Querida, so you know you are getting quality.
This full-bodied powerhouse is hand-crafted using aged Nicaraguan tobaccos from the Estelí region. Its finishing touch is a jet-black Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper. The result is intense notes of chocolate, pepper, and a sweet spice at the end. With its gothic skeleton label and vicious name, this is a great cigar for this time of year.
Black Label Trading Company Santa Muerte
Black Label Trading Company is quickly becoming a new favorite for me. I love their back story, their themes, and the fact that the brand has its own small factory, so everything is produced in house. Among their fine portfolio is the well-rounded Santa Muerte, which is a medium to full-bodied smoke with a ton of complexity to it.
The Santa Muerte uses a six-leaf combination of tobaccos from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico, giving it a medium strength and a great combination of flavors. The Ecuadorian Habano wrapper adds in a lovely touch of spice, nuts, and earth. The cigar takes its name from the Mexican folk personification of death, making it a great choice for All Hallows Eve.
Las Calaveras 2019
This is one of the few yearly releases that I really look forward to. For five years, Crowned Heads has teamed up with Don Pepin to create this wonderful cigar that is named after the Mexican Day of the Dead. Since its inception in 2014, this cigar has received several 90+ ratings and is a release every true cigar nerd looks forward to.
The 2019 version is the best since the original, and that’s not just me saying that. It is being hailed as a return to form, and one of the best cigars of the year. It is hand-rolled at the My Father factory using Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos. It is then cloaked with a rich and savory Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper, giving it a mix of rich, sweet and spicy notes. What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a Las Calaveras.
Viaje Super Shot 10 Gauge
Viaje is one of the kings of themed cigars. Their Zombie series is highly coveted every year, so much so that we sold out in a week. However, the Zombie Red and Green are not my favorites among the series. That distinction belongs to the short, stout and powerful Super Shot. Made to resemble a shotgun shell, the 10 gauge comes packed with a lot of flavors in such a small package.
The super Shot is rolled with 100% Nicaraguan tobaccos, including a zesty Nicaraguan criollo wrapper. This results in a full-flavored and full-bodied smoke with notes of red pepper, cedar, cinnamon, and a little chili pepper as well. While I am usually not a fan of short, fat cigars, this blend just works perfectly in this size. When you need to defend yourself from the zombie horde, load in a super shot.
Super excited!
Excellent picks, well done!
Yes please
“Awesome Top 4 in terms of the cigars!”
Great article, I need to try some of this cigars ASAP.

I personally really enjoyed the bone shaker!
Like the sound of black works studio description! Looking forward to sampling one soon!
Solid chooses for this year’s Halloween lineup. That cutter is sweet. Have to add this to my collection with the JR exclusive ugly sweater Xikar cutter.
Good luck everyone!
that Las Cavaleras is Fire, CH bangs it out every year, I always try to keep some Skinny Monsters around for Halloween, it is our anniversary too
Can’t wait to give these a go this Halloween…
Halloween cigars! Hell ya!
Something from deadwood with the Calavera on the wrapper would be a good one!
Great halloween picks, I have to try Las Calaveras!
I think the AJ Fernandez Witchdoktor needs to be on the list… Enjoyed a Boneshaker cigar from my humidor a couple of days ago, great pick, they never disappoint.
The black label last ride looks fantastic. It’ll smoke even better after being cut by the custom Halloween Xikar.
I agree with all of these selections. Perfect choiced!
Trick or treat , smell my feet give me something good to smoke !!!!!))))))boneshaker((((((
Nice mix of sticks….
