Top Cigars Never To Be Seen Again

Like most great things in life, one moment they are heavily involved in your life, and the next moment they’re never to be seen again. Maybe it’s when your favorite athlete retires, or when one of your favorite co-workers leaves for another job. Maybe it’s that time you tried a cigar that you really enjoyed and one day it up and vanished. Never to be seen again. Well lucky for you, we here at JR Cigars have your back!

In keeping with the theme of rare or hard to find cigars, this week’s Top 5 centers around cigars that will not be seen again.  Whether they were discontinued or just limited from the get go, these are the last of these cigars in our inventory and most likely the last time you will find them. THIS SAMPLER IS SOLD OUT! :-(

La Escepcion Perfeccion

Being a pre-revolution brand that was discontinued in the 1850s, it’s safe to say that La Escepcion has to be the one cigar that was truly never to be seen again. Production was drastically on the decline and eventually called it quits in 1989. However, like many of the classic Cuban brands, it was brought back to the U.S. under the watchful eye of General Cigars.

These cigars were limited, to begin with, so over a decade later, they are almost impossible to find.  Handcrafted at the General Honduran factory, they use a blend of aged tobaccos including a stunning Honduran wrapper as well as tobaccos from the Ometepe region of Nicaragua.  They are rich, flavorful and after 10 years of age, incredibly smooth.

CAO Concert Roadie

Some musicians or bands conduct farewell tours and ride off into the sunset, never to be seen again. Our next cigar has a similar fairytale ending! Paying tribute to its roots, the CAO Concert Roadie was launched in 2012 from the music city Nashville, Tennessee. Everything from the sizes, to the band to the box, shows love to the music lovers all around the globe.

Filled to the brim with exuberant Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos, the cigar uses a rich Broadleaf binder and then a special Habano Rosado wrapper from Ecuador. Notes of espresso, pepper, and nuts are delivered with each puff. This cigar was an instant classic in my mind and one of the most underrated CAO’s ever created.

Diamond Crown #7 Maduro

Born from a collaboration between JC Newman and Carlos Fuente Sr, the Diamond Crown No. 7 Pyramid Maduro was created for J.C. Newman Cigar Co. 100th anniversary back in 1995. These exclusive sticks are handmade by the Fuente family, making the No. 7 even more posh and exclusionary. Most of the offerings in this cigar line seem to be very enigmatic.

While it still uses the same Dominican tobaccos as the natural version, the #7 uses an aged Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.  The addition of this special tobacco gives a touch of richness and cocoa to the smooth and nutty center.

La Flor Dominicana 2000 #4

Born in the heart of the Dominican Republic, the La Flor Dominicana 2000 was constructed by the legendary Litto Gomez and his sons. The Gomez family produced this beautiful smoke at their family’s factory in the mid-1990s. Being one of the original LFD releases, these smokes are rare to be spotted in your local brick and mortar stores.

The perfectly constructed No. 4 series is handcrafted with Dominican and Brazilian tobaccos, giving it a unique and enticing complexity.  It is then covered in a toothy Cameroon wrapper, which adds in touches of cocoa, earth, and nuts.  For the cigar collector, there is no doubt the 2000 series is on your list.

Tatuaje Cojonu 2006

Rolled in the heart of Miami’s “Little Havana”, Pete Johnson turned to Jose Pepin Garcia to create and collaborate on the classic Tatuaje Cojonu 2006.  This partnership would shape the industry, as both Pete and Pepin are now considered to be among the finest and most prolific blenders in the business.

The Cojonu set the stage for the Tatuaje brand and has become the baseline for all releases since. This Nicaraguan Puro is a medium to full-bodied smoke that provides rich, tantalizing flavors such as chocolate, Cream, Cinnamon and Pepper. The Tatuaje fan base is always in search of limited or rare cigars from Pete, and this one is certain to tickle their fancy.
