Romeo y Julieta 1875

We kick off the list with one of the most popular sizes, from one of the most popular cigar brands. Now owned by Altadis USA, Romeo y Julieta has phenomenal cigars under its portfolio. But one stands out above the rest, and that’s the Romeo y Julieta 1875. Founded in Cuba back in 1875, the Romeo y Julieta 1875 has since become such a symbol and standard of what a top-shelf cigar should aim to be.

The reason I chose the Romeo y Julieta B1875 Bully was for its size and tobacco strength. This 5 x 50 medium-bodied smoke is perfect if you don’t have that much yard work to get done. Cloaked in an Indonesian wrapper, with binder and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, the Bully has delicious flavor notes of cashews, leather, earth, and sweet spice on the backend.

Available in a pack of 5, a box of 10, or a box of 25, the Romeo y Julieta 1875 Bully is a piece of cigar history you cannot miss out on. Add it to your humidor today!

Umbagog

Paying homage to his home state, Steve Saka of Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust Co. named the Umbagog, a top-quality smoke, after one of the most pristine lakes in New Hampshire. Saka was able to combine his two loves (cigars and fishing) with this ever so popular line. This being labeled an “everyday smoke”, we thought it’d fit perfectly on this list in every way imaginable.

Coming in a 6 x 48, the Umbagog Corna Gorda utilizes Connecticut Broadleaf tobaccos for the wrapper, all while having Nicaraguan tobaccos for the binder and the filler. This medium to full-bodied smoke has delectable flavor notes of black pepper, chocolate, wood, leather, and sweet spice. Available in a bundle of 10, the Umbagog Corona Gorda has been on many of our top 5 lists and is worthy of every praise it’s been given.

Alec Bradley Coyol

Next up is the long and lean Alec Bradley Coyol. This 6.50 x 41 Petite Lancero is meant to be lit up for when you know you’ll be in the yard for a few hours. Paying homage to the Coyol farms in Honduras that produce some of the most bountiful tobaccos in the country, the Alec Bradley Coyol is dressed in a reddish-brown Honduran wrapper that catches the eye almost immediately once you open the box.

With binder and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and Honduras, the Alec Bradley Coyol Petite Lancero is a medium-bodied cigar that will quickly remind you of old, Cuban-style cigars from back in the day. Flavor notes you’ll detect while smoking the Coyol Petite Lancero are black coffee, leather, and roasted nuts. Available in a box of 20, the Alec Bradley Coyol Petite Lancero is an experience worth having any time of the day, not just when doing yard work.

JR Alternative Cigars

Next up, we have the JR Alternative Montecristo DR No. 2. Some JR Alternatives cigars feature long-fillers from the likes of Macanudo, Montecristo, and Excalibur. These JR Alternative smokes are great for the beginner smoke who’s looking to find what flavors and cigars he or she will end up loving.

This 6 x 52, medium-bodied smoke has undisclosed tobaccos that make up the wrapper, binder, and filler. This is the perfect choice if you are looking for great top-shelf tobaccos for much less. With the affordable bundle of 20 on our site, the JR Alternative is the perfect, inexpensive smoke to enjoy while trimming the hedges.

Southern Draw Desert Rose

One of many things I love about Southern Draw cigars is that there is always a meaning behind each and every name of their cigars. In this case, Desert Rose was dedicated to Robert Holt’s wife, Sharon, in which Robert credits most of the success of Southern Draw to her relentless hard work day in and day out. When any product has a special meaning such as the Desert Rose, you take pride in enjoying it a little bit more than you usually would.

Produced in Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez, the Southern Draw Desert Rose Belicoso Fino comes in a 5.50 x 52 size, perfect for outdoor yard work. Cloaked in a stunning Ecuadorian wrapper, the Desert Rose Belicoso Fino has a binder from Nicaragua, and filler tobaccos from Honduras and the Dominican Republic. Flavor notes you may detect while smoking the Southern Draw Desert Rose are spice, cedar, cocoa, and cream. Produced for novice smokers, as well as experienced cigar smokers, the Southern Draw Desert Rose the perfect smoke while you’re on your lawnmower!

Nice list. But the JR alternatives are really the only true “budget” cigars, priced for everyday people.
