Top 5 Cigars with American Tobacco

One of the most intriguing parts of the cigar business is finding out what part of the world the tobaccos that make up the wrapper, binder, and filler hail from. Nicaraguan puros are very popular, as well as cigars with tobacco from Cameroon and Honduras.

However, some of my favorite cigars I’ve had over the last few years have tobacco that comes from the soil within the United States.

For this week’s Top 5 list, we compiled a handful of cigars that feature tobacco from the United State of America. By doing a list like this, it just goes to show the common cigar smoker that if you have the proper elements, you can make a delicious cigar anywhere in the world.

Here are the Top 5 Cigars made with American Tobacco. If you find this topic informative at the end of this article, then you should click here to check out a similar article we wrote about the top five American wrapped cigars we wrote in 2019.

Southern Draw Jacob's Ladder

The first cigar we’re going over actually hails from the great state of Texas. Robert Holt, founder of Southern Draw prides himself on his southern roots making him the man he is today. Southern Draw has a handful of popular lines under its name, but Jacob’s Ladder is by far the line that sets itself apart from the rest. Expertly rolled in the box-pressed format by none other than AJ Fernandez, the master blender himself, the Jacob’s Ladder has a unique fragrance and blend that is just magical to the common smoker’s palate.

This 6.50 x 40 Lancero has a binder from Ecuador and fillers from Nicaragua. Yet, the part that features is American tobacco is the stunning Pennsylvania Broadleaf Wrapper cloaked over this smoke. This medium to full-bodied smoke has delicious flavor notes of dark chocolate, cappuccino, roasted peanuts, and hints of leather on the backend.

New cigar smokers looking to experiment with cigars that feature leaves from American soil will not be disappointed in this cigar one bit. You’d be a fool not to add these luxurious cigars to your collection.

We rant and rave so much about Nick Melillo and Foundation cigars, that you, the average cigar smoker should know Foundations catalog front to back. You should also know that Nick Melillo is proud to be from the wonderful state of Connecticut. He knows the state’s history inside and out. So when it comes to any one of Foundations cigars, you shouldn’t be shocked that it has tobacco from the United States, specifically Connecticut, either in the wrapper, binder, or filler. Great list, thanks for covering this. I love Charter Oak, My Father H-2k-CT and Monte White Vintage. I guess I have to try the Southern Draw Jacob’s Ladder – they sound delicious. I am a bit surprised not to find J.C. Newman The American. I’ve had a handful of those and enjoyed them. Although they tasted a bit like they could stand some more ageing. I’ve got 7 in the humi that have been cooking for over a year. Can’t wait to try one of those later this year.

    Great list
