Top 5 Cigars for the Global Games
Every four years, we’re fortunate enough to see athletes all over the world compete in global games hosted in one major city. This year, the global games will be hosted in Paris, France from July 26th ro August 11th. We’re extremely lucky to have three full weeks of competition featuring over 10,000 athletes from over 200 countries all over the world.
With a full plate of sports throughout late July into Early August, we figured it’d give you the perfect opportunity to sit back with your favorite cigar and beverage of choice while you watch the USA Men’s Basketball team, the swim meets, or the gymnastics.
To even take it a step further with our excitement for the Global Games in 2024, we did our best to select cigars from some of the countries that are represting themselves in these events over the next three weeks.

The first cigar featured in our Top 5 Cigars to enjoy duting the global games is the Alec & Bradley Kintsugi. This popular cigar line will feature the 5.63 x 46 Corona Gorda in this sampler. With its release in 2020, the Kintsugi has been a fan favorite over here at JR Cigars.
Starting with the beautiful design of the box and cigat band, the Kitsugi was inspired by an ancient Japanese art form. The Rubin Brothers stated this cigar was created and released during the height of the pandemic and signified bringing us back together in a very delicate manor, much like the design on the box represents.
Hailing from Honduras, this medium to full-bodied cigar features Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco in the wrapper, binder, and filler. Being heavily constucted with Honduran leaves, we figured this would be the perfect cigar to enjoy while rooting for the four Honduran athletes competing in the gymnastics, swimming and wrestling portion of the Global Games.

The next cigar on our Top 5 Cigars for the Global Games is the illustrious Davidoff Escurio. With an exceptional catalog and infamous reputation for being one of the best brands in the cigar world, the Davidoff Escurio is one of the brands most sought-after cigars. This luxurious line comes in six different sizes, and we have the 6 x 46 Corona gorda gracing its presence in this sampler.
Hailing from the Dominican Republic, this medium to full-bodied cigar is cloaked in a Ecuadorian Havana wrapper, while featuring Brazilian tobaccos in the binder, and the filler is comprised of Nicaraguan and Brazilian tobaccos as well. The mixture of these different tobaccos that make up the Escurio will have your palate in for a treat. The flavor notes that you may detect while smoking the Davidoff Escurio are toast, vanilla cream, nutmeg, cedar, and a pinch of pepper.
Although this cigar line hails from the Dominican Republic, Zino Davidoff was born in Ukraine, but grew up in Switzerland. For our third cigar featured on our Top 5 Cigars for the Global Games, we have the Diamond Crown Julius Caeser from J.C. Newman in our collection! To celebrate the companies 115th Anniversary, J.C. Newman created a cigar to honor its founding father Julius Caesar Newman. J.C. Newman pulled out all the stops for this celebratory cigar by having this rolled at the Fuente Factory in the Dominican Republic.
Cloaked in an Ecuadorian Havana wrapper, the 4.75 x 52 Robusto has San Andres and Caribeean tobacco in the filler portion of the cigar, while tobaccos from the Dominican Republic comprise the binder. A cigar similar to the Davidoff Escurio, the plethroa of different tobaccos make for an extremely enjoyable smoking exeprience. Flavor notes you will detect while smoking this medium-bodied cigar are sweet spice, coffee, aromatic cedar, and wood.
With J.C. Newman factory based in Tampa, Florida, we thought this brand would be perfect for when athletes from the United States will be competing in the Global Games. Featuring almost 600 athletes in 34 different sports at the Global Games, it showcases the longevity and consistency we have in terms of representing our country well. We believe that J.C Newman has the same reputation when it comes to its presence in the cigar industy!

The Henry Clay War Hawk is the next cigar on our Top 5 Cigars for the Global Games. This storied Cuban Heritage brand released the War Hawk in late 2019, surprising a lot of novice and seasoned cigar aficionados alike.
Haling from Honduras, the Henry Clay War Hawk is a 5 x 54 Medium-Bodied cigar with exceptional flavor notes from start to finish. Cloaked in an Ecuadorian Connecticut Wrapper, the War Hawk has a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and filler tobaccos from Homduras. This culmmination of different tobaccos makes for a scrumptious smoking experience. Your palate will detect flavor notes of nuts, earth, cocoa, sand pepper.

The Zocalo is the latest edition of CAO’s “country” series, in which it joins the likes of CAO Italia, America, Brazilia, and Nicaragua. For the Zocalo, CAO features a color and design scheme to pay homage to Mexico.
