Top 5 60 Ring Gauge Cigars

On today’s Top 5 list, we are discussing an element of a cigar that’s grown in popularity over time. For the average cigar smoker, go-to ring gauge sizes for them to enjoy would be anywhere between a 40 to 50 ring gauge, which is most commonly used for a Toro or a Robusto. Lately, however, I personally have been enjoying bigger ring gauge cigars. The bigger the ring gauge the longer smoke time you’ll have, and as we’re in the full swing of summer, I love spending as much time outside as I can!

One specific ring gauge I’ve really enjoyed is the 60 ring gauge. 60 ring gauge usually pairs perfectly with a cigar that’s 6 inches in length and is commonly shaped like a “Gordo”. Every cigar on this list is the popular 6 x 60 shape which is also referred to as “660 Cigars”.

So without further ado, here are our Top 5 60 Ring Gauge Cigars for you all to enjoy! From CAO to Oliva, check out our list and let us know what are some of your favorite 660 cigars we may have missed!

Undercrown Sun Grown

Leading off our Top 5 60 Ring Gauge Cigars list is the Undercrown Sun Grown from Drew Estate! Created by master blender Willy Herrera, the Under Crown Sun Grown is a part of the new sun-drenched series Undercrown released in 2017.

Manufactured at the La Gan Fabrica Factory in Nicaragua, the Undercrown Sun Grown is cloaked in a gorgeous Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, all while being bound by Connecticut Habano tobaccos, and filled with tobacco from Nicaragua.

This medium to full-bodied smoke has delicious flavor notes of coffee, raisin, nuts, and fresh-cut grass on the backend. This 6 x 60 Gordito is one of nine popular sizes under the Drew Estate Undercrown umbrella.

If you are feeling hesitant in smoking a cigar that’s not your average-sized smoke, I’d give the Undercrown Sun Grown Gordito from Drew Estate a chance to gauge whether you like those 660 size cigars or not!

Oliva Serie V

Next up on our Top 5 60 Ring Gauge Cigars list is a cigar from a company that’s extremely loved by all over here at JR. The Oliva Serie V in the Double Toro, 6 x 60 size! Being one of the oldest cigar companies in the whole industry, it amazes me that Oliva has been able to be consistent this entire time. Oliva’s Serie V series really paved the way for other “Serie” cigar lines under the Oliva brand, especially the Serie V Melanio line.

Cloaked in an Ecuadorian Sun-Grown Habano wrapper, the Oliva Serie V has Nicaraguan tobaccos from the Jalapa Valley region to make up the binder and filler. Some flavor notes you’ll detect while smoking the Oliva Serie V Double Toro are cedar, leather, spice, and a touch of sweetness on the backend that would pair nicely with an espresso.

Alongside the Double Toro, this medium to full-bodied smoke is available in seven other sizes that deserve a spot in your humidor today.

AVO Heritage

Landing the middle spot on our Top 5 60 Ring Gauge list is a delightful treat from Avo cigars, the Avo Heritage in the Special Toro size. There are so many reasons to be in “awe” of a company, and the man himself, Avo Uvezian. Once a classical jazz pianist, Uvezian teamed up with master blender Henke Kelner of Davidoff to create the Avo Heritage.

Well into his 80’s, Avo Uvezian still found the time and passion to follow his dream and create this magnificent blend that catered to the seasoned cigar smoker who enjoys a complex, full-bodied smoke such as the Avo Heritage.

Cloaked in an Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper, the Avo Heritage has tobacco from the Dominican Republic that makes up the binder and filler. Some delicious flavor notes you’ll detect while smoking the Heritage Special Toro from Avo are cashews, cocoa, black pepper, and oak that would pair perfectly with a Brandy.

Alongside the 6 x 60 Special Toro, the Avo Heritage comes in five other sizes. This robust smoke that is widely popular by the industry is a cigar that is good in any shape and size. Stop by JR’s today and get a box of the affordable Avo Heritage today!

CAO Flathead

Next, we have the CAO Flathead in the V660 Carb size! One trend I love seeing in the industry is themed cigar lines that aren’t tacky. CAO owner Rick Rodriguez is a car fanatic and decided to dedicate his “hot rod” lifestyle and mix it with his other passion; manufacturing cigars!

Each line under the Flathead series is named after a car part and believe it or not the V660 (6 x 60) isn’t the biggest size under the Flathead name. The Flathead V770 Big Block is a 7 x 70 cigar and would be a perfect smoke to have while spending the day working on a car.

The CAO Flathead V660 is cloaked in a stunning Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper while featuring an Ecuadorian Connecticut Habano binder, and tobaccos from Nicaragua to make up the filler. Some flavor notes you may detect while smoking the V660 are natural sweetness, cedar, earth, and a touch of chocolate on the retro-hale.

This smooth and delicious smoke comes in a pack of 24 and would be a very wise choice to add this to your humidor today. Get the CAO Flathead V660 today at JR’s!

Partagas Black Label

Last, but surely not least, we have the  Partagas Black Label rounding out our Top 5 60 Ring Gauge Cigar list! The 6 x 60 Gigante featured in this Top 5 is the largest cigar size under the Black Label line. However, they also have the 5.25 x 54 “Clasico”, 6 x 54 “Magnifico”, and the 4.50 x 54 “Bravo” which is small in length, but powerful with that 54 ring gauge size that we are getting accustomed to.

Drenched in a gorgeous, dark, oily Connecticut Medio Tiempo wrapper, the Partagas Black Label has vintage tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua that make up the binder and filler. Some flavor notes you’ll detect while smoking the Partagas Black Label Gigante are cocoa, nuts, and espresso on the backend.

This full-bodied smoke is available in a box of 20 at a very affordable price now, on JR Cigars’ website!
