Introducing the Davidoff JR 45th Anniversary
In 1971, a young cigar visionary named Lew Rothman opened the doors to his first retail tobacco store in Manhattan. This tiny, but stocked to the ceiling little shop had a sign that read “World’s Largest Cigar Store”. A bold statement indeed, because at the time, the Big Apple had a local tobacco shop on just about every corner, and this modest little store was most likely one of the smaller ones. That sign, if nothing else was a forecast of things to come, because what these other shops lacked was Rothman at the helm, and thanks to his marketing genius, and thorough understanding of the consumer’s needs, the JR Cigar we all know today, is indeed the biggest, and the best!
The JR Empire grew from that small store in New York City to include larger stores throughout the country; along with our huge state of the art, 12,000 square foot fully humidified shipping warehouse, Call Center, and Online Operations Facilities.
The former owner has moved on, and today, the company continues to grow in leaps and bounds, but this year is a special one – our 45th anniversary. To help us celebrate in a very HUGE way, we are proud to say that the legendary Davidoff Company has released a distinctly special, one-of-a kind ultra-premium handmade cigar! When designing the luxury Davidoff JR 45th Anniversary cigar, the company carefully chose a stunning a 6 x 52 belicoso. Davidoff’s master blender Hendrik Kelner gave the task of rolling these beauties to the most skilled torcedors in the company’s famous Tabedom factory in the Dominican Republic.
The finished product comes elegantly fitted with both the classic white band emblazoned with the signature gold Davidoff marque, and a special band beneath it inscribed with the words, JR Cigars 45 years. The gorgeous silky smooth, golden brown Connecticut seed Ecuador wrapper on these smokes, combined with the stunning bands, makes for a most striking presentation, especially when seated in their ornately monogramed 10-count boxes.
Concealed beneath this spotless top leaf is an equally impressive blend of specially selected and fully aged Dominican long filler tobaccos, embraced by a rare and robust Dominican Piloto binder grown in rich, reddish soil that is very much like that found in Cuba.
In true Davidoff fashion, this Belicoso is faultlessly assembled, and upon lighting, a remarkably slow burn delivers a harmonious medley of cedar, cocoa, coffee bean and caramel flavors, all complimented by a seductively sweet aroma.
