Thanksgiving used to be a time for family, food, and reflection on what you are thankful for in your life.  However, within the past 40 years or so, it has become the biggest shopping time of the entire year.

Black Friday used to just mean waiting in line outside of a mall for a TV or for a new toy.  Now, retail and e-commerce sites run deals that span the entire holiday weekend.

JR Cigars has always been proud of our holiday weekend deals, and this year we have really outdone ourselves.  Let’s take a quick glance at our biggest deal days this year and what you can expect.

Black Friday for shoppers almost dates back to the turn of the 20^th Century.  With many large department stores hosting Thanksgiving Day parades, such as Macy’s, they would use the opportunity to begin their Holiday shopping push.  Eventually, they began their Holiday deals the day after Thanksgiving.  This gave rise to stores opening earlier and earlier on Black Friday, sometimes even on Thanksgiving Night.

While we aren’t a brick and mortar location, Black Friday is still one of our best days for deals.  This year, you can expect to find tiered savings deals, free shopping offers, special one-day-only samplers, and so much more.

With internet shopping becoming increasingly popular during the new millennium, online retailers set out to establish their own Black Friday of sorts.  With retail stores marking their territory on the Friday after Thanksgiving, e-commerce sites decided to plant their flag on Monday.  The term “Cyber Monday” was born around 2005, and since then it has become the biggest online shopping day of the year.
