Last week we wrote about the town of Westminster, MA. that was going to try to ban the sale of tobacco. At the time the health board said they would bring the matter up again. Apparently the board has had second thoughts. At its last meeting, the board voted 2 to 1 to drop the stupid idea. The board was reacting to a packed house that got way out of control at the hearing for the proposal. The board had to end the hearing after 25 minutes because things got out of control as town residents were incensed at the ban idea.
“I find smoking to be one of the most disgusting habits anybody could possibly do. On top of that, I find this proposal to be even more of a disgusting thing,” resident Kevin West said during the hearing.
The sad thing is one member of the board still thought it was a good idea.
