In 1971, Lew Rothman, a young man who had spent his entire youth working in his father’s various convenience/ cigar shops in Brooklyn, finally decided to spread his wings by opening his very own small cigar store in Manhattan. In a very short period, The JR Empire grew from that tiny store in New York City to include larger stores throughout the country; along with our huge, fully humidified 12,000 square-foot shipping warehouse, Call Center, and state–of–the–art Online Operations Facilities.
Rothman, still held in high esteem as one of the most famous industry legends, has since moved on, but his dream continues as the company he created continues to grow steadily in leaps and bounds, and here we are in 2016, marking a very special milestone for the whole JR family -our 45th illustrious year in the stogie business!

Introducing the JR 45th Anniversary Cigar, handmade in true Altadis fashion at their famed Tabacalera de Garcia Factory in the Dominican Republic, this special smoke was carefully designed using the very best tobacco leaves from growers worldwide to attain its unique character.
In reverence of this significant occasion, Altadis chose the lovely Belicoso shape adorned with a spotless deep brown colored African Cameroon wrapper and aged long filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic nestled inside a bold and tasty Nicaraguan binder. To enhance their striking visual appeal, these cigars are elegantly appointed in ceremonial 10- count dress boxes adorned with eye-catching yellow and black bands emblazoned with the JR 45th Anniversary moniker.
This well-planned recipe results in a cigar that burns incredibly slow, allowing you to savor its fragrant sweet and spicy notes of earth, cedar, leather, nuts, and cocoa.
