CAO Amazon Basin Cigars

September 23, 2019

CAO is a cigar company that’s been made famous by using the rarest and most exotic tobaccos when creating many of their highly sought-after blends. That said, Amazon Basin cigars are widely considered to be the rarest of them all.

Released at the 2014 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show by General Cigar, Amazon Basin cigars are highlighted by a type of tobacco called Bragança, which is grown in the Amazon Rainforest and harvested just once every three years. There’s nothing else like it. Once picked, the tobaccos are rolled by hand into tubes, then transported to factories by canoe, and finally converted into hand-rolled premium cigars. To call these tobaccos ‘rare’ would be an overwhelming understatement. In fact, CAO produced just 2,000 cedar boxes of 18 CAO Amazon Basin Cigars.

The rest of the blend includes a gorgeous Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and deeply aged filler tobaccos from the Amazon Rainforest, Nicaragua, and three more undisclosed countries. As you can see, even the rest of the blend is unique. In addition,  each cigar is finished with a rustic, 100% twisted tobacco ‘band’ that adds another distinctive Amazon Rainforest touch, as well as symbolizing old Brazilian rolling methods.

Available in just one 6 x52 vitola, simply called Basin, the cigar boasts top-notch construction, a slow even burn, and an easy draw. Furthermore, the cigar feels firm and buttery smooth in the hand and is waxy and oily to the touch.

Billed as a medium to full-bodied blend, Amazon Basin Cigars produce and abundance of creamy textured notes that include chocolate, caramel, mesquite, pepper, and sweet tobacco, that will have you savoring every puff.
