Camacho, a brand made famous for their fuller-bodied Cuban style cigars, decided to show off another tamer blend with their Scorpion Connecticut line. This worthy addition to the brand portfolio joins the Camacho Connecticut series that was made with the mellow to medium-bodied cigar enthusiast in mind.

For this review,  I chose the  Scorpion Connecticut  Robusto because the 5 x 50 size and easygoing strength profile was the perfect 45-minute cigar to pair with a nice cup of morning-joe.

The Camacho  Scorpion Connecticut Robusto cigar, along with the rest of the line,  is billed as a value-priced offering, but I certainly couldn’t tell that from my initial visual inspection.  The cigar was solidly packed with no divots or soft spots,  and it displayed a gorgeous, silky smooth Ecuadorian seed Connecticut wrapper with tight seams and a nice oily sheen.  Underneath this pristine crown is a blend of an aged Honduran binder and long filler tobaccos.

The cigar had a crisp, clean-cut – without damaging the wrapper, and the foot toasted quicky, immediately providing a nice effortless draw.

Right out of the gate this was a rich full-flavored smoke that delivered a three-note combo of spice, leather,  and cedar. The spice really starts picking up a head of steam deeper into the first third of the smoke with leather and some new hints of raisins and nuts working in perfect harmony in the background.

The second third presented an entirely new smoke aside from the growing spiciness. These new flavors included cocoa, wood,  and hints of chocolate, backed by an overall creamy tobacco sweetness. From first light, and up until this point,  the cigar is burning like a champ and is flaunting thick clouds of sweet-smelling smoke that gives me moments of relaxing pause to enjoy the overall smoking experience.

The final third presents itself as a long-lasting smoke with crisp even burn and only one minor touch up required. I’m finding Scorpion is holding true to its mellow to medium-bodied profile with the same complex flavors found in the second third swirling around my palate in a most pleasing way.  Moments before I retire this top-notch Robusto to the ashtray, it becomes one the creamiest and sweetest sticks that I have ever smoked.

To say that I was highly impressed with this value-priced Camacho offering would be an understatement… Simply put, it was a highly satisfying handmade premium cigar from start to finish!
