The AVO Syncro Nicaragua line distinguishes itself from the rest of the Avo brand portfolio by creating a line of box-pressed cigars, as well as being the first regular production cigars to include Nicaraguan tobacco.

For this review, I decided to take the 6 x54 Toro Tubo that comes in a beautiful metal square-pressed tube for a test drive. But first, let’s take a look at the blend and the company’s billed strength profile.

Strength:          Medium-Full bodied

After removing the tube, Syncro Nicaragua was a stunning-looking box-pressed cigar, it’s sophisticated with an elegant appearance, and the box-press feels solidly packed and sturdy in the hand. The wrapper had a dark chocolate brown color with only a couple of slightly visible seams and plenty of natural surface oils.

After toasting the foot and lighting the cigar with my trusty Xikar Tactical Black Triple Torch Flame Lighter (another shameless plug for JR Cigar), the first few puffs produced an abundance of black pepper and earth that simply screamed Nicaragua. This was soon followed by tamer notes of salted peanuts and leather to go along with its Nicaraguan zest.

Moving into the second -third mark, the cigar is settling in nicely with a base of dark roast coffee and leather-backed by the aforementioned black pepper and earth lingering in the background. The cigar is performing like a champ with a crisp slow, even burn, and its bolder complexion is living up to its medium-full bodied billing.

In true Avo Uvezian fashion this musically inspired Toro is hitting all the right notes with a tapestry of ever-revolving notes that includes dark roast coffee, bittersweet chocolate, leather, and caramel. A peppery kick on the backend really kept me on my toes. A creamy smooth vanilla-like taste while approaching the nub, provided the perfect finale for this highly complex smoke.

• Would I smoke this cigar again? In a word… Absolutely!

• If you are looking to discover a bold and flavorful high-end ultra-premium cigar, then, the AVO Syncro Nicaragua is a definite must-try.

• The cigar commands a fairly hefty price point, but in this case, you truly get what you pay for.

• Smokers on a slim budget will want to reserve this luxurious cigar for special occasions such as a wedding, Bar Mitzvah, or a special birthday celebration. Along with tremendous flavor, the gorgeous aluminum tube makes for an elegant presentation.
