Anthology

November 11, 2014

Usually when you hear Anthology, you think of a collection of stories or music. Well that would be the dictionary definition, but now from Altadis USA comes a new cigar line so named—Anthology.  Like much of the newer blends from the company—think H. Upmann The Banker or Monte by Montecristo – the new Anthology comes full of flavor.  Like Symmetry and the Pappy previously mentioned, Anthology uses an Ecuadoran Habano wrapper (must be the hot wrapper this year) over a Nicaraguan binder and Dominican fillers.  Anthology is a full bodied cigar with full flavors, but at a nice price.  It comes in four sizes…Variant at 6” x 54, Preface measuring 5.5” x 49, Crown at 7” x 50 and the 6” x 60 Crown.  The prices run from $4.50 to $5.50.

Nasties Comin'

Starting last year, Rick Rodriguez—the guy behind CAO for General Cigar—decided to show his great sense of humor.  For last Christmas, he tweaked the La Traviata blend and repackaged them as Angry Santa and Evil Snowman.  This year, he has tweaked the CAO Gold line and the packaging too as the Nasty Nutcracker.

This blend which started shipping last week, uses a Honduran Connecticut wrapper, as opposed to the Ecuadoran Connecticut in the original CAO Gold, with a Habano Connecticut binder and ligero from Nicaragua as the filler.  The Rabid Reindeer is a new take on the CAO MX2 blend which uses the same blend, except that the fillers contain spicier fillers—ligeros from Honduras and Nicaragua.  There is only 1 size for these Christmas boxes, 6.5” x 52.  There are 14 cigars in each box with a suggested price of $8 per stick.
